Im having a problem with my car boosting. I have a tial 38mm wastegate and the spring is 1 bar. Basically my issue is, when I get into boost I can hear the wastegate opening but my boost gauge only reads about 5psi. I check for leaks in all of my piping and couplers with compressed air. What else could cause this problem??? Something wastegate realated??? I have a manual boost controller on there too if that matters. I dont think it does because ive always heard the wastegate cant run lower boost than the spring inside. ANy help would be great, if you have any more questions please ask. Thanks

and is it a real tial or knock off?

Don't get me wrong the knock off tials work well but it's recommended to at leas use a genuine tial spring.

No way. You can run higher pressure with a boost controller but there is no way to run lower. Yu have some kind of issue - wrong spring or bad refference spot that makes pressure look lower than what it is. A boost controller bleeds off some pressure before the WG - there is simply no way to lower boost with a BC - not possible,

While I am sure you're just having fun with the thread, it is a good idea to make sure everything is working correctly. Test the wastegate first off to make sure it is opening around the correct pressure. Or at least that it is inline with what you're experiencing on the car. If there are leaks or some other force causing a limited amount of boost, then it could affect the efficiency of the turbo or perhaps the spool-up characteristics. None of which turning up the boost using a boost controller will remedy.

Boost leaks or exhaust leaks. The wastegate or MBC cannot run lower boost than the spring, period dot. If the WG were malfunctioning, you would run higher boost, or it would not open. If you had an issue with the MBC, you would experience spikes or higher boost levels. You either are loosing boost or exhaust energy turning the turbo.

What i did to test my wg was i hooked up my air compressor hose to the wg fitting then SLOWLY pressurized the diaphram. when the wg starts opening, check the gauge to see what psi you're at....this will tell you what spring you have

That can be dangerous to the WG though if you have a bad regulator or a regulator that has a low setting that is too high. I would just take it apart and check the spring color.
