I have a 91 TT Z with 107000 miles on it, ive recently spent around 3000 just repairing and replacing old or broken items on my car. Ive noticed lately tho that usually when the engine isnt fully warmed up that it will run alot faster and i notice the boost gauge boosting to 13-14 psi ( running a jwt chip and boost jets), it will only run like this briefly and then it goes back to how it runs the majority of the time which is noticably slower and when im on it the boost gauge only reads up to between 5-7.5 psi. I checked the boost hoses in the car and after taking them off to examine them i realized they were in pretty bad shape... frayed and cracked at the ends and very soft and easily expandable. I am about to order some new ones from stillen but i wanted to get some opinions on if this is definently the culprit or not. Also where is a good place/price to get them from?

PS: Would a bad clutch booster cause performance problems? Just had mine replaced and my mechanic told me that it could definently cause performance issues because it runs off of vacuum which effects everything in this car.

Is there anything else that would cause this car to drive like this? I also notice it sounds differently when running better and the blow off valves are noticably louder. Any help would be appreciated. Just wanna know if theres anything else so i dont go replacing things that dont need to be replaced

Well according to what you just said earlier, you're running higher psi when its cold, so your BOV's would obviously be louder.

The piping, if old and weathered, can definately cause this when it gets warm (the fittings on the end expand when warm, causing a small leak to become a large leak). If the clutch booster is new, then it wouldn't likely be the cause of the vacuum problem (assuming there is one).

You can take the car to a nissan dealership and have them check the vacuum readings and see if they change as the car warms up.

Yeah im gonna stay away from this nissan dealership here, they would charge me 60$$ just to look at it. Yeah thats what i was thinking as it gets warmer it would become way more noticable because the heat would allow for more expansion opening up the already harmful leaks even more. I was just curious if anyone else had expierienced somethin like this and corrected it a different way or if im the only dumbass that still has the original boost hoses.

well the nissan tech's don't work for free, they have to charge you because the tech is going to charge them, you doctor asks to be paid when you ask him to look at your rash, it's the same here

and yeah sounds like a boost leak or an exhaust leak, start checking evey hose and fitting

check ecu codes. sounds like safety boost (code 34). since you're not letting it warm up fully the engine coolant sensor might be putting it in safety boost until your next start up.

don't get me wrong I'm not defending the nissan dealership, some are good some are bad, they are just like any other repair shop, the tech looking at your car might be somethign of a Z expert, or this might be the first one he's ever seen! but no-body works for free, if you wanr their imput you'll have to pay for it, and half of the service writers will lie to you about their tech''s experience and abulities with your car just to make the sell, sad reality that it is, personal referals are the best bet
