Hey Ka-ters I'm running 14 psi of boost with a garret t3/to4e turbo .57 trim and .63 ar boost slowly builds then wham it hits hard at about 3700 rpm (full boost) does this sound right ? and if it is , is there a way to controll this because my tires just break loose in 1st and 2 nd when it hits like that and it is killin my 0-60 ft. time. i'm using a manual boost controller on a tial 38mm wast gate with a 10 lbs spring, open dump. 3" turbo back exhaust no cats. please comment.

Sounds like a KA-T on street tires to me. : )

You can get an EBC and do a scramble boost setup.. Run whatever psi you can hold traction with your current tires, then after the KA hits its peak torque, increase the boost as much as you feel comfortable with on your motor/setup.

I would say do slicks + up the boost to 20lbs and run boost by gear for 1st and 2nd, then your good to go.

3700 seems late for full boost to me....

As far as traction goes....lol. Thats what happens when you add 200whp to something bro. Bigger better tires, softer suspension = win.

The best way to deal with this is learn to ease onto the gas pedal

Yup, gas modulation is key.

Let me get this straight, you floor it and loose traction first and second gear... so what seems to be the problem? :D

Had it for about a year now but I just dropped in the motor and wrapped everything up in the last three months. I sold the black S14 about 8 months ago. Did you guys miss me in the KAT forum lol.

What gear are you talking about? I start building about 4psi of boost under 3000 and then 10-12 psi hits HARD around 3000 rpms, but that's in the upper gears like 3rd+

1st hits hard around 35002nd hits hard around 3100

but yeah with the stock tires a t3/t4 will make your 1st and 2nd gears just about useless

dual stage boost controller would help. low boost 1st and 2nd. then flip a switch and put power to the ground

I had the same problems with my ka-t on 9 psi. It was useless in 1st and 2nd on street tires. Had to have slicks to grip at all in those gears.

another thing I will had is having a lower gear ratio. The stock 240sx gear ratios are 4.08:1, that's pretty damn low. Changing to at least j30 gearing (3.91:1) will help out with the wheel spin.

I still have my stock gearing and even with some heavy 18x9's out back with the viscous lsd my 1st gear is just about useless after 4000rpms lol.

I run a J30 VLSD diff, with 17x8 wheels with 225/45s out back, and it's just not enough either. I have Falken Azenis RT-615s, which are supposed to be good tires too... lol

The 615s have a really stiff sidewall...great for lateral grip, not so great for off the line traction.

I had 245/45's out back and it wasn't enough either.

Tires can't keep up with our KA-T torque-monsters lol

Supposedly, but the rear end of my car gets pretty squirelly if your not careful.
