What is the difference between mechanical and electrical? Are the electricals worth the extra ~$100?

Electricals send the readings to the gauge via a small wire. Mechanical use the actual measuring device.

i.e. Electrical boost gauge measures boost and sends readings to the gauge via wire.

Mechanicals use a vacuum hose to travel from the measuring point to the gauge.

I have always used mechanical with no problems whatsoever.
