i was wondering how the CA's ecu references boost. it doesnt read in pressure anywhere does it? and is there any really cheap way of getting rid of the boost cut? how the ecu reads in all this junk has always puzzled me, as it doesnt seem like it has any of the necessary means to do so.

it doesn't read boost, it reads airflow. when you reach a certain airflow (usually 100% of the maf's capability) it will cut fuel.

so it's more a airflow/maf cut....not a boost cut?I thought it looked at the maf and the rpm scale.....and worked out from that how much boost it would be taking....?

So you're saying.....that if we hook up say a Z32 maf, and re-program the ECU to suit.....then our boost cut would be raised ( not removed ) to approx 550HP?

If you reprogram the ECU you can just cut it from there...

yeah, the CA18 MAF limit is easy to reach. i recently dyno'ed my CA18 using a SOHC KA MAF and never passed 66% airflow. so i still had a ways to go. and this was on a 14psi spike. IIRC, the CA18 MAF is good for abour 200WHP and SOHC MAF good for 300WHP.

Do you have to wire up a sohc ka maf or tune it or can does it just plug right up??
