ok so as most of you know, i JUST got my car running today.

im driving it around everything is going good, so i hit the gas and the gauge reads 10psi for like 3 seconds and then sticks it at 8 ...

any ideas why boost would creep then drop to waste gate pressure?

and also i have a turbo xs rfl bov from a turbo kit left over and i went to have it welded up and dude at the turbo shop said it woulednt work becuase its piston type and the mafs would act up and the car wouldent idle..

that sounds right but is there any bov that would work with the factory smic and piping. i want to run it after the intercooler in that like 4 inch piece of straight pipe..

any ideas, comment>???

TIA_

Won't work because it's a piston type? I suggest you get a second opinion on anything that person tells you. The type of mechanism is irrelavent. What is inportant is it's ability to stay closed at idle. If it is weak, relying on manifold pressure to stay shut it will flutter open with vacuum at idle and drive your computer crazy. Also if it is not recirculated it will cause a deceleration stumble as the previously metered air escapes but the fuel is still coming.

Did you hook up the factory boost control solenoid. Without it boost spikes like that would not be suprising.

Yea, that's not creep, it's spike, and it's common for mechanical wastegates.

"creep" and "spike", both good gang names.

if you have a stock setup you dont need one but there are plenty of bov's on pipes made for the sr on ebay..

can the boost control solenoid be replaced with a mechanical boost controller?

just get rid of that thing period. run a line between the compressor and the wastegate, if you want a boost controller just put in line with that. but i wouldnt advise it on a completely stock swap.

i'm running the same BOV on my setup, but I'm using a SAFC to compensate for decel. When I don't have my SAFC setup, it stumbles when I'm driving, and it doesn't idle properly.
