Lately I have been getting a cut-out issue and could not put my finger exactly on it. So I trouble shooted, pluged BOV port on ARC smic, still cut-out, sprayed entire engine with wd-40 to check for vacuum leaks, nothing. Then I tried one last thing, I removed the MBC (Manual Boost Controller for the noobs). Viola fixed all the rough idle, low (14-16 in. of vacuum), hesitation, and bucking that I had previously experienced. I believe its cause I was using a bleeder type mbc. It let out just enough air to cause the ECU to dump fuel and cut-out.

The purpouse of this thread is to discuss the different types of boost controllers everyone is running along with how the install went, settings, and overall performance.

My MBC was a simple home made ball/spring design. it increased spool-up amazingly, no lag at all between shifts compared to just the wastegate. Would boost up to 10psi before i would get the cut-out issue from it bleeding excess boost.

thanks for any and all replys.

I am using a cheap MBC that a friend gave me. Seems to work ok.

I'm using a ProSeries Hallman MBC. It's great, never messes up.

I have a Joe P knock off that came with my buddys UTEC for his WRX. Hits and hold 10psi nicely.

I am running a Blitz SBC ID-I , the install was simple and straight forward the silenoid box is a bit big, but the east of use evens that out. I hit a cut-off 2 but usually only in 1st and 2nd by third I can go all the way to 1 bar with no issue.

I have the old skool Greddy Profec B BC, (just three dials) and I love it. It holds boost very nicely, reduced lag.
