I'm debating between two different boost controllers and I am interested in the general populations suggestions. I'm only looking to drop around $300 or so. I know I could get a PFC, but that is not an option ATM. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know. I'm using my digital HUD cluster, not the R33, so I do not have a boost gage of any type.

Option 1:AEM Tru-Boost. All-in one controller and gage. I can get this for under $270 shipped plus tax. Integrated high and low settings.http://www.aempower.com/ViewCa...ID=68

Option 2:GReddy Profec Type-S + AutoMeter boost gage - $300 ish. Individual high / low adjustments. http://greddy.com/products/dis...ry=51

The AutoMeter gage does not really need any explanation..

So there you have it. I'm interested in everyones thoughts / comments. I know both are supposed to be good / great, but I'm wondering what downfalls do either unit have? Is there anything that I should be aware of? Thanks! Oh, R33 RB25 + stock turbo. Plans are low=7psi, high=12psi

Everything I have seen has said to stay away from the Spec2 and go with the Type-S, so I was already planning on avoiding that option.

I talked to the guy from greddy at SEMA and he said the one without the screen on it and the B spec II are the same thing, just one has a couple more features and the one w/o the screen is supposed to be easier to use.

They are the same price also.

The E-01 and the AVCR are REALLY nice controllers but expensive.Too many functions for me.All I need are high and low. They have gear dependent boost, fuzzy logic stuff (know Idea what it is, so if anyone knows, drop some knowledge on me)

Most guys that have these BC's never use any of those functions. I only know 1 guy that's set up the gear dependent function. (Which is really nice)

Well, thanks for the comments,I was mostly interested in the two units mentioned. I'm definitely not going with the Spec-2.. sorry, too much bad feedback. Type-S or Tru-boost.

save some money and get an mbc, unless you're one of those "high boost setting for the occassional race" and "low boost setting normally" people, which is pointless imo. run your max safe boost all the time and use an mbc. money saved to go towards your pfc.

btw pfc doesn't control boost.

Gawdzilla,

Thanks for the input! I was considering a Hallman Pro -- Most of the local guys have them. I would still need to get a gage though. I will keep the option in mind. I almost purchased the TurboXS dual MBC (just two MBC's with a solenoid in-between to select low and high. again, thanks for the idea!

I know the PFC is not a boos controller per say (it is an ecu) but it has the ability to function as a boost controller. I meant to address that earlier but did not see it until this morning. (after it was already covered :-\ )

for a good reliable, easy to use controller, I don't think the original greddy profec spec-b can be beat. has 3 knobs: low boost, high boost and gain. Gain controls how fast the wastegate actuates (stock, the wastegate starts to open around .5 bar and is fully open by .8 or so, the gain lets you tune that out so the wastegate doesn't open until .7bar or so. downside is that if its set too high you'll get surging.) and you should know what high/low boost settings do.

bottom line, if you can find one cheap on ebay, get it.

The new Greddy profec S or whatever the new one is.Is similar to what your talking about. No display just 3 knobs on it.

But if you buying that, you might as well get the B Spec II.It is the same boost controller EXACTLY, just has a display on it.

It is also the same price too.

Have you setup or used all the functions on it???

Was it worth the $600?

You could always go with a forge wastegate actuator with a higher rated spring.

I bought one that I intend to use after I get a better tune.

Well, first I didn't really pay the full price so it was a killer deal

I disabled many of the features cause I didn't like them for what i was going for plus i did all the tuning on the street in the span of 2 nights and held 15psi rock solid to redline on my SR stock WG. has all the nice playback features to go back and forth to tune it.

Third, if i had $600 for a EBC it would be the Blitz
