i've been looking through the diagrams and it looks to me like if the boost control solenoid is not connected then it will cause problems? how is this gotten around?

well if you just remove it from the system the wastegate will not open, wich means you will run about 17psi

till the turbo pukes the exhaust wheel out your tail pipe

you can remove it from the system by just connecting a vacuum line from the hot pipe to the wastegate nipple. but when i did this i only ran 5.5psi. ive heard from other people they ran the normal 7 but i cant verify that.

there will be no boost control, i.e. 17psi..blown turbo, etc.

not having it connected wont cause any other problems not related to boost pressure.

kamin is right... disconnecting the boost control solenoid will have no bearing on any other electrical function.

WTF? There is no boost control solenoid on an RB20. At least I never saw one on any RB20 I ever messed with. Do you mean the actuator?

just run a line from the hot pipe to the wastegate, kamin may not be able to verify but i boosted about 7psi when i ran mine like that.

OMG, did you just actually say "word" in conversation? Oh boy, I haven't seen that in years I have distractions, this combined with my terminal case of dumbass keeps me interesting

no spark, no injector. so either powell was right and i did fry some chip on the ecu that won't show it (wouldn't surprise me) or i have something like what nightkid went through(wouldn't surprise me either) and need to make sure i am getting all my signals.

when i get home i'm checking continuety on injector wires, and ignitor chip wires, check powers and ground for the 20th time and see whats up... just a pain to do when i'm 200miles away from my car.

check the cam angle sensor

also, why would you think the boost solenoid has anything to do with this problem? lol

first was burned up, changed it, though you're right, i should make sure the new one is good too.

was curious if it would cause any bad things to happen and wanted to know from people who had removed it. playing with breadboards has shown me that wierd can happen.

Oh crap, make sure the drive-key isn't broken off the end of the exhuast cam. That happened to me once with the same symptoms.

I only ran 5.5 psi when not using the solenoid but mine was from an auto.
