well i actually have a welded diff unlike most in this thread who are just speakin based on heresay.
you would NOT feel it on the highway at that speed! the rear would not be hopping due to the bushings, suspension, tires, etc. taking the stress and absorbing the shock. you say paul lost control? seems like a problem with paul's driving. you have full control of the car when you are putting all the power down, that is what a car is supposed to feel like. you will only feel it at low speeds such as parking where it will "skeet" during turns. the size and condition of your tires make a difference. if i have bald as 195's it is rather easy. but with new 205s it is a lil tougher but no big deal. the main thing is to give it more gas at low speed. you will get the hang of it. mine has been to DD3, DD5, sfs sidways 2004, Ter-tech practice at hialeah, and sfs sideways 2005 round 1 and my diff is still holding. it was brazed between the spider gears to impede the turing of the gears. it has taken a beating and is a good solution for someone on a budget. oh and the DD's are 3 hours each way from my house. ask pros like mattback from enjuku racing who says welded diff is better than vlsd. i highly reccomend it for anyone wanting to be competetive in a budget. i have done pretty well with it.
