Being fairly new to turbocharged engines, is it normal to have brake assist lag due to the engine boosting and not producing vacuum? for example... when i was autocrossing, comming off a corner i would be full throttle but when i would have to brake immediately after being full throttle, there would be a half second delay before i had assisted brakes. normal? somthing wrong? a fix for it?

That's normal.

The only real fix for that is a different master that doesn't need vacuum assist. I ran into this problem all the time in my hillclimber.

An electric vacuum pump does wonders. They run 220-320, I use one on my car because of cam choice / low low vacuum. If you track it a lot its a good buy. They maintain 18-24FT of vacuum with a sensor switch.
