So, the work car is a 2004 2.5S special edition- ie. the one with the thousan bucks in extra goodies. Don't know if you guys get this model in the US.

Anyways, in 9 1/2 months, I've racked up 63,000 km...no problems. Last week, brakes warped, need replacement. Tires bald. Need replacement. I'm a little perturbed, but thankful that I don't have to pay for that.

Today? Stall 5 times at 5 different stop lights. Check engine light blinks. Stall, stall, stall. Rough, ragged engine. Bring to garage.

2 hours later.

Informed that the check engine code referred to cylinder #2. Opened her up and discovered the plug has been broken. Apparently the 'space' that's usually there has been violated. Told to bring to Nissan dealer.

2 hours later. Now driving a Tahoe rental.

Nissan dealer closing. Tells me it's one of two things-

a)a recall issue from prior years where the catalytic converter would do the equivalent of a backwash and dump **** into the engine.

b)some screw or something in the valve set in the first cylinder which has been known to get loose...at which point it takes a tour of the engine innards.

Either way, the engine appears to be shot.

Again, happy I ain't paying.

Any other ideas as to what the hell happened?

ouch that sucks.

Has the car been serviced at a Nissan dealer?

They check for recalls when they have the car.

Wow, that sucks. I bought mine this past april, and in 6 months I put 42,500 miles on it, I have no problems on it at all, except my front strut starting to make noise on the right. I all replaced is tires.

An update-

Among other things, the entire intake manifold needs to be replaced. At 60k KM...sheesh.

At least it's under warranty.

Now here's the interesting bits.

Like I said, it's a work car....fleet stuff. So in the meantime, I'm driving a rental. When I go in for the update on the car, I'm told that the manifold is on backorder, and it will take 2-3 WEEKS(!!) to come in. I inquire about getting a rental through Nissan or a loaner through Nissan for that period of time- and am informed that only extended warranty owners get that perk.

I've called the fleet company and have been informed this is bull****....and that they'd be reimbursed for the value of my rental by Nissan Canada....but to say the Nissan dealership has aggravated me with their actions is an understatement...<sarcasm>because obviously the backorder is my fault </sarcasm>. I can only imagine how angry I'd be and the scene that would have occurred if it was actually my car, and not a fleet vehicle and they pulled that stunt.

Nevertheless, it pains me to say this as a Nissan lover, but it's a Magnum or a G6 for my next car after this bull...
