Hey there everyone! I own a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 S (Sedan/Stock Stereo), brand new, that I just purchased three weeks ago and I'm getting ready to install a new sound system that I wanted to share with you all, get your opinions on, etc.

The goal here is get a nice and loud sound with supreme quality and really explosive deep bass sounds which will mesh nicely with dance (techno/trace) and rock music without too much modification between the two.

Here's the rig:

Dash: Kenwood KDC-X592 ( iPod/Mp3/Sat Radio/HD Radio/USB/External)Altima Dash Kit w/ Texture & Harness

Front/Back Components/Tweeters: Kenwood XR17P (300w) - 6.5" x 1"Rear Components: Kenwood KFC-X692 (300w) - 6x9"

Amps: Rockford Fosgate T400-2 (400w)Rockford Fosgate T400-4 (400w)

Subs:Rockford Fosgate P2D2/412 (250-500w) - 12"Rockford Fosgate P2D2/412 (250-500w) - 12"

If you're wondering, here's the price tags (Mind you, these are as listed and installed [no labor/shop included]):

Dash -> $270Front/Back Component/Speakers -> $570Amps -> $800Subs -> $320

Amp Kits / Amp Rack / Sub Box (Custom Built & Rockford Fosgate Ported Sub Box) -> $520

Final installation of all of these products I will have the rear fold down seats have a lighted amp display behind them that will show off the amps and allow settings to be changed, and under them will be a lighted sub display which I haven't priced in this setup pack.

Here's the final number: $2480

If you wanted to have this install done by a shop, standard labor on the parts and install would run around $250-$400... so, total as installed, im pricing this system at:

$2800

I think this should meet all my goals, but I want to know what you guys think, lemme know!

Hi and welcome 2 NICO!

First congrats on the car!

Second, I think there are better components you could grab for sound quality. Something like the Diamond Audio HEX S600 are loads better than those components you have listed. the rear isn't as important as they will be used for rear fill just so your sound comes from all around instead of just the front stage!

Second, I would suggest the Audio control DQXS active crossover/digital EQ in order to finely tune your audio system! This can be used in conjunction with the DDC controller.

Lastly, I would go for the Rockford P3 subwoofers rather than the P2. I've taken all of the Rockford subs aparts piece by piece, and the P2's are below average in buil, with the P3's being better overall. BUt for SQ, I would recommend two JL W3's over the Rockford P3's, or some Digital Design 12"s, or even the Diamond Audio Hex 12" for SQ!

As far as the amps go, I have the T400-4 and T600-4 running my 3 way components and rear 6x9's, and the T1500-1bd running my Rockford T2 12" sub.

The t400-2 amp you are using is an A/B class amp better for speakers than for subwoofers. For a subwoofer, you want to stick with a class D or class BD amp!

Welcome man!Glad you have big plans for the AC and the sound!

Doc and Applebonker, our resident sound guru's know their components... id take their advice if possible.

Excited to see the build take place!

Thanks for the ideas! I'm kind of short on cash at the moment which is why I chose the set up I did. I just can't stand stand the stock stereo anymore. I'm going to blow my brains out. I can't wait to get rid of the silly buzz, static, and THWARPING that occurs when I put the volume control on MAX. (:<

I fully intend to upgrade when the funds are available, and I'll resell the parts on eBay or Craigs as I upgrade.

Hey guys!

Good News! The install is complete! Pictures to follow!

The install took exactly 3 hours and was done by Overdrive Audio of Jacksonville, FL - they were amazing and did an awesome job.

I only have two issues, which I thought you guys might be able to help me with.

1. Flashing Airbag Light

2. Auto-Up Window Function

That's it. Everything else is golden!

Thanks guys!

The reset mechanism for the window up feature is in the manual for your car. I believe it's just a simple holding the windows down for a bit, and then up, but i don't remember...

Boomshakalakashakalaka! *waves mystical fingers* fixed 'em both in less than 45 seconds. Now I'm proud of myself.

Thanks for the help guys!

As soon as I get home and break out the camera, pictures will be uploaded and things of that nature... the system far exceeds my expectations and I'm quite proud of it.

Problems, problems, problems!

I have had my fair share, but most of them were probably my own fault.

After using the incorrect size fuses (40's in 55+'s) and throwing enough power through my high range amp to blow out the board, I finally got everything settled, replaced, and I have pictures!

Sorry for the delays, just been really busy at work and all!

Changes:

Sided for a custom box instead of the RF one for a better wiring setup and the ability to mount the amps to the box instead of building a custom rack as I didn't need to put any subs onto the custom rack or anything.

By the way, if you are intending on building a custom box for a 2008 Altima, make sure your trunk measurements are VERY precise, as my box literally fit tighter than OJ's glove without being convicted to die.

Pictures (taken via cell phone so excuse their crummyness):

Also, in addition to what I already have I was thinking I may want to add in crossover to bring out a better sound quality, anyone have any ideas on what I should do to the current rig to get one in?

Oh, and LED's are to come, we've been trying to work out the audio perfectly before we start messing around with the lighting.

Congrats on your setup... for a great sound processor with digital EQ and Active crossover, I say go with the Audio Control DQXS with DDC controller... Will probably run you a minimum od $600 but WELL WORTH IT!!!

I have been bitten. The evil, snarply, upgrade bug.

Does anything think it's sane to put a T600-4 and T1500-1db on the stock 2008 Altima 2.5 S alternator/battery. I also intend to move up to P3's and possible switch out my Kenwood components/tweets for the higher Rockford Power series from 2008, which are just obscenely loud and sound much better than my Kenwoods. I was also considering Focal.

Any ideas/help would be great!

Thanks

Have you had issues with your amps overheating? doesn't look very safe to me having that little space between where you mounted it and the seat. those things get hot and can start a fire if you dont give them breathing room.

your alternator has the same amperage as the G35's, 115Amps I believe... so no need to upgrade the alternator for your system IMO. However, I would suggest you upgrade the wiring and do a BIG 3 upgrade using 0 gauge wires , which is fairlyu simple to do in the 2.5 engine bay.

Also, you def need to upgrade that factory battery to a kinetik battery! perhaps a Kinetik 1800

Regarding the amps, I'm running two of those amps now, and they are plenty powerful, but only with upgraded power wires and battery!
