Hey Guys,

I finally, after many trials and tributlations, got my insurance company to replace the windshield glass with OEM glass. The catch is that they only allowed $40 for labor - I had to pay the remainder. The $40 is based on "reasonable" charges. I think that's BS - it takes more than a hour to replace glass and the associated molding around the windshield. Does anyone know what the book hours are to replace the windshield glass/moldings? If any tech's know, it would certainlly help me in collecting the labor cost from my insurance company.

Thanks,

Stephen

The parts book pages I have for Infiniti Q45 (1990-1996) shows the windshield and moulding time as 4.0 hours labor "for replacement with New OEM undamaged parts on new undamaged Vehicles".

This time also "includes clean up old adhesive as necessary".

If you need a xerox copy faxed to you for proof with the insurance company, please let me know ... hope this helps!

40 bucks? That's crazy. Most good mechanics charge 50-60 an hour and I doubt any of them could get it done in under one hour. stupid insurance companies :)

Thanks szhosain, UR a life saver. Could you fax a copy of the book hour pages and I will confront the crooked insurance company. I think the bottom line was that they resent paying for OEM glass, but hey, that's the insurance coverage I PAID FOR!!

By the way, I can also scan (which I gotta do anyway to send the fax) the pages, PDF them and send along in an e-mail. If this is more convenient ('cause you can print it out on anything) and also the numbers might be cleaner on a scan, just let me know. E-mail me from the profile page ...

Hi, Stephen.

I sent it via e-mail (two PDF files attached) first as that is quicker and easier (my fax modem does not always sync up with remote fax machines :( ).

If the PDF does not work for you, please let me know and I will fax from my work system tomorrow.

Also, I did not send all the pages - just the one containing the windshield info. At some point, I will scan in all the pages and make PDF's available to anyone who wants it ...
