Boo boo oil change.

So I accidentally changed my oil at 2,991 miles instead of around 3,785 miles.

But I'm at least using my Fram Ultra during this 3rd oci to get my money's worth.

Technically I could keep it for 5 oil changes, so I'll see if I'm in the mood to change it at my next oil change.

Now that I'm older with a bad back, I think I'll relax on the filter changes. Don't bust my balls because I did go from 15,000 mile oil changes for over a decade to 3k oil changes. Yeah I think putting clean oil 5 times is better then keeping the same oil through the filter for 20k miles. First time I used my quick valve drain system too.

I do 5000 miles and a filter each change, as my miles are a mix of city and country miles. I’ve had cars that were 100% highway that had 10k oci’s and went 200k miles.

Warranty is what drives my oil changes. Once that is up, I’ll do 7500 miles or once per year on a full Synthetic oil.

The only reason I’m doing the 3785 oci was just because my Blackstone report was perfection with the lowest wear.

I personally felt that my high silicon levels and iron was due to the long oci and it capturing those particles during that extended period. Mind you, I 100% don’t believe any damage is being done whatsoever. Wear included.

I just wanted a change of pace of doing short oci’s now because my ocd really likes that sweet spot where iron, silicon is low and Blackstone saying I had perfect results finally.

Moreover, I have no problem still doing 15-20k oil changes.

If anything, my cvt transmission will blow up before my engine.

Oil is affordable, and rocking the Fram ultras, so why not, ……..short or long oci’s; no problem!
