We just purchased a 2009 Infinite M35. After turning off the engine, when you open the driver's door, the car bongs as long as the door is open. It's like an alarm for something that's been left on and shouldn't have been. We didn't notice this happening at the dealership, so we're not sure if we haven't 'quit' correctly.

Is the car in P? If not, it'll do that. Sometimes I hit the start button before I go into P lol.
Is the headlight switch set to OFF or AUTO? If not, it'll do that.

In the case of turning it off before putting it in P, it is the same as leaving the key in the ignition of a car without an intelligent key. You need to move the ignition to the off position after putting the car in park, and to do that, you will need to press it once to go back to on and again to go to off. The dash indicates this to some degree, so if it's not that, maybe the dash will indicate what it is in hieroglyphs. In the case of the headlights, presumably you had already checked since cars have done that for decades.

The car was in park and the lights were off. In checking to make sure these things were done, I noticed the light was flashing at the place where you insert the key fob to recharge it. I inserted the key fob and the noise stopped immediately. Not sure why it was doing that, but thankfully it's not anymore! Thank you for your replies.

I don't believe the key will recharge in that position but the key will work when the key fob battery is low in that position ....... a new battery in fob is cheap and easy

But seriously, our key fobs are NOT re-chargeable. They have disposable batteries and the key slot on the bottom of the dash is there to enable you to use the key fob to start the car even when the key fob battery is dead. I replace the key fob batteries once a year on my birthday - along with the smoke alarms, intercom system, patio/pool speaker sync, etc.

Lol, same here. I skipped the thread at least 5 times thinking that, then I just couldn't resist.
