Not to mention his dad is Walter Koenig... Imagine all the jokes that produced.Sympathy shouldn't be given for taking his own life, but rather the life that led to him taking those measures.

Yeah that's not ignorant at all. It's also totally relevant.

Yes, because everyone has the exact same amount of chemicals in their brain.

That's all our consciousness is...a bunch of chemical and electrical messages zinging around our small heads. Some people have the misfortune to lack certain compounds essential to enjoying life. Even with medication and therapy a balance is sometimes elusive.

I'm not saying everyone who offs themselves suffer from a true chemical imbalance in the brain...I'm saying that your comment is a cold, cold way to express your ignorance of such a disease. In the future instead of lashing out at what you don't understand...perhaps read a little.

I had heard on some news report or another that he was missing and off his meds. I feel bad for his family.

The cause doesn't matter. Suicide is the ultimate selfish act. It shows that the person is completely incapable of caring about anyone but themself. Doesn't matter how miserable you are...choosing to end your own misery at the cost of the happiness of those who care about you is deplorable.

I agree with Dave, though:

Suicide is selfish indeed. Whether you accept it or not, there are people around you who look up to you, openly or secretly, and people who just really love the fact that you're alive. They may also love the fact that they can get the chance to enjoy your company, laugh with you, argue with you, cry with you, and so much more. So to take yourself away from the loving people around you is an act that i find hard to forgive. I rarely feel sorry for the one who commits the suicide, unless it's a sad case where they were only surrounded by negative people who probably gave them even more reason to commit suicide. I feel sorry for the people who loved him.

The sympathy is not for him. It's for the family he left behind. Death is not hard for the dead.

I had a cousin who off'd himself 4 years ago. Chemical imbalance or just plain messed up in the head. It dont matter, a screwed up life that lead to final event, I can accept that to an extent also. Some people though are just plain unwilling to accept the consequinces of thier actions. Jay had sweet job with the state, as well as being full time Army National Guard with the rank of Sgt Major. He pissed it all away when he decided to steal some items from the state, that in turn got him dishonorably discharged from the ARNG. He eventually got a job as a lead mechanic at the largest car dealership in Jackson, Ms. He got fired from that job too for stealing ALOT of stuff. Rather than face the music and spend a few years in the slammer. He blew his brains out.

Yeah, It hurt. I miss him, but Im pissed at him too. See Jay and 2 of my uncles both served in the same unit as Military Police with the 162nd MP Co. - He betrayed the trust of not just family but brothers in arms. Instead of facing the consequences he took the cowards way out.

So your point is that people who commit suicide have a chemical imbalance in their brains? I must say I disagree. . . You're talking about depression not suicide.

What about the guy who flew his plane into the building in Texas?
