What would YOU choose?
See, I sold my Z three months ago. Wanted to try something "new", bought a 76'' 280Z, realized the Z32 has pretty much all I could want in a car... So now I'm on the lookout for a new one, not much to choose from here in Norway so I'm thinking of importing one from sweden or germany. I've found a couple of bone stock, low mileage TT's and one slightly modified one with a relatively low mileage.
I had my Z for two years and it was pretty much stock when I bought it except for a better clutch and a boost upgrade, modified it to my taste over the years.
One part of me want's the original untouched Z just because of the fact that it's untouched, but I know deep in that I can rarely keep anything stock, and I like to tinker and wrench on things. The other part of me wants the modified one because it saves me a lot of work and time(I have a kid now), it's the cheapest of them and it also saves me money on buying upgrades, it already looks good but I don't know the quality of the work involved and such. I've been burnt before so I'm a little bit skeptic with buying modified cars...
The candidates:
Modified one, volk 19" wheels, xtd stage 3 clutch, d2 coilovers, 14" bigbrake kit, stillen exhaust and styling,

Low mileage stock

stock nr2

so what would you choose? The cheaper one that you could drive now already looking good or the more expensive stock ones, realizing it would probably take a couple of years before you would be "happy" with it ;)

Hey spiffy long time no post!

I'm guessing the ads are in Norwegian?

I don't know how to speak Norwegian or read it.

Does pris mean price?

I say go with the low mileage stock then put your own spin on things if you know what I mean. Is english your second language?

spiffy, I'm in the same boat! I can't leave anything stock..always have to modify. heck, even my zero turn lawn mower is modified. :chuckle: I bought a 1990 Z32 owned by an older woman. Obviously she never raced it so I know everything is bone stock. The only thing I've done to her so far is upgraded the injectors from the old style to the new style and changed the timing belt with the 120K kit and a K&N filter (cone).

Now I had bought from a friend who was parting out his Z32 his magnaflow midpipes with cats, hks hi power exhast, stillen short throw shifter and a set of adjustable tockiko shocks.struts with eibach springs and I'm on the fence to whether or not install these parts. The Z looks and performs great as it is and it IS rare to find a bone stock Z that has never been raced nor modified. I'm thinking a rare Z like that is worth more than one that was modified but I don't know. Hopefully someone can chime in and give their thoughts on this subject...

Is the last one 6500 miles? Or do they mean 65,000. If it's 6500, I'd put it in a vault, suck all the oxygen out and never drive it. That's about as rare as you can get.

I like the modded one. 19" Volk SF Challenge are one of the few 19" wheels which look good on a Z32, IMHO.

If you're going to mod eventually, getting a tastefully modded car from the start saves you money.

Tony, you do realize the "low mileage" one only has 5000 miles.

OP, I think you should get the stock and do your rendition of how you want things done. At least you know who and what exactly put the modified stuff on. The funny part, I think the modified one is the cheaper out of the three. It does have the highest miles at a staggering 12500.

Hehe, calm down now guys  . The ads are in swedish, which is similar to norwegian and we both use the metric system, so the modded one has a 120000km's on it, or 12000 metric miles. (1us mile=1.6km)
But still, that's not a whole lot for a ZX if it's been well maintained, my previous one had a 115 thousand on it and was solid as rock!
But stock, low mileage Z's are getting rare, and I guess that's what attracts me to those two, both have had only two previous owners, probably older ones since they're not modded in any way(even the stereo is stock!)
Yes! pris means price, and it's in swedish kroner. And for those that care to convert that to USD you'll probably get a shock as I believe Z32's are like a couple of thousand dollars over there?

I had 19" Vertini Fairlady's on mine, I think they look good but I would opt for 18" if I get another one, just because of the more rubber(lots of bad roads here).

I would go with the modded one. Those Volks are sick.

These 2 items make me nervous as to the quality of the work that has been done.

Is it crap? I have no experience with the xtd clutch, I have used D2 coilovers on a previous car I owned but that was sold shortly after so I can't say anything about the quality...

I've never had any 1st hand experience with xtd but I have read terrible things about them. As for D2 I once again personally dont know but it seems to be on the cheaper side of suspension components.

dont be so quick to judge, i used the megan stuff, cheaper....yes. but for the time being gets the job done! as long as its not the turbos or major component its easily replaced.

BUUUUUT IMO i would go with the lower mileage car, you can always upgrade, but you cant always find a nice low mileage z. at least i cant...

Absolutely! But I got a reply mail from the dealer today that it was sold :(

True that, even if it is the longer and more expensive route. And the cheaper one might end up costing more in the long run...
But as long as you maintain a car like this you will get your money back if you sell it. At least I did with my previous one.

Soo, thought I'd update this.
Got a reply from the guy selling the low mileage one, 50k km's, full service history with the stamps to prove it, timing belt replaced two years ago, garage keept, never driven in the winter AND he was willing to go down on the price if I bought it fast... So I'm like :ohno: what to do! Still haven't sold my s30, which means I can buy the car and import it but I can't pay for the registration taxes and fees.... But I'd still have my low mileage Z though :chuckle: And I'm betting an S30 is easier to sell come spring, then I could get the Z32 registered.
It's a gamble this, and my brain is going all back and forth now!(cause on top of all this I just saw the 2013 victory boardwalk and I want me one of those to! :rotfl )

Try and make a deal with the seller.

No regrets.

Hopefully not ;)
I've been in touch with customs office today and the department of transportation or roads or something like that, I'm not sure what they call it in english :P It looks like importing the car isn't gonna be to much trouble, I just need for Nissan Europe to get me the COC-documents to get it registered :)
