Hey guys...

*ahem* AZHitman in particular, since I know you've been at this place...

I have a decision to make here. Simply put, I have two options for the end of the summer:

1) SR20DET Blacktop (installed) with all mod cons...$5,000 +++

or...

2) Bondurant 4-Day Grand Prix Course. $4000 + (including airfare and vittles. Housing will be free.)

I'm strongly leaning towards Bondurant simply because I feel that the knowledge and experience is worth way more than a motor swap, even if my S13 needs a heart transplant desperately (and I have been drooling over a SR for months now).Plus, Bondurant has the new C5's on the track, and also has a 10% discount running till 9/30/03. So it will be the cheaper option by about a grand or so. It will, however, consume one resource I don't have a whole bunch of - time.

So I wanted to know if any of you have been to this facility and/or taken the course, and what your thoughts are. Is it worth it? I would be happy with either decision, but tell me what you think.

Blacktops make panties drop. =)

Hehe totally just kidding on that one. But I would probably go for the swap for the same reason stated above... you will drive your car everyday... not just for four days.

Ok, here's my input. I've never been on that course, so I can't tell you the benefits or downsides of it. From what it sounds like, it'll be a blast. How could you NOT enjoy it?

You have to weigh the benefits and downsides of each, and decide which option will benefit you the most. If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't give the motor a second thought. I'd be talking with Heavy Throttle right now arranging shipping and the such. Yes, the track will be a lot of fun, but once that fun is over, what do you have to show for it? Experience, yes. But is it really worth $4000? I don't know what your financial situation looks like, what kind of job you have, or what kind of savings you currently hold. But for me, that's a LOT of money, and definitely way more than I'm willing to spend for a little more driving experience.

With a new motor, you'll enjoy it every day you'll drive, and you'll gain plenty of experience driving a faster car, too. Every time you hear that BOV go off during a shift, you'll slap yourself for even thinking about spending that much money on a few day road course school.

But of course, this is all my opinion. I would enjoy the motor much more (not to mention I drive 2,000 miles a month, so I'd enjoy it a lot, lol).

Nick.

Wow. I'm flattered you asked my opinion on such a big decision... :D

I'm a huge fan of the training at the Bondurant school. As for whether the experience is worth $4K, I'd say absolutely... Especially if it helps you avoid ONE accident with your newfound skills... Of course, that's easy for me to say since I don't pay full price... Not even half :D.

However, $4K is a LOT of money, and you said your car needs an engine... Tough decision. Although I think the driving casses are WELL worth the $$$, I'm finding myself leaning towards the engine - Especially if you can get it done for a little less...

Thanks for the input, guys...

Well, it is still up in the air as to what I'm going to do. I may just push back Bondurant until the winter, or next year. It is a pretty high cost for only 4 days (nearly a grand a day) so I'll have to think about it. Then again, the SR is definitely an indulgence too. And illegal (and NJ is nearly as anal as CA with regard to inspections).I may just have to shake the magic 8-ball and let it make the decision for me. Maybe I'll do the smart thing and save the money for retirement. *YEAH RIGHT.*
