Hey, my 93 240sx has two serious rust holes on it, so I decided it was time to start repairing them myself. My answer came from autozone in the form of :

Tonight I prepped and repaired about a half dollar sized hole in the seam of the passenger firewall ( about where my cruise control used to be hiding it.)I'll see if I can take some pictures of it tomorrow because it is dark now. I also have to go and get some rubber gloves to protect my skin, right now my hands are sticky with resin .

Question: Is there anyone else on here that has done fiberglass repair before? It's my first time giving it try so any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Well if i read this correctly you have already filled the holes and now your asking for advice? The most important part of the process is surface prep. You need to get rid of all the rust. I use primer on the bare metal, then fiberglass. Then sand it, then bondo, then sand, then paint. How much you bondo and sand just depends on how much you care about the location your fixing. Personally i fill holes with sheet metal welded in whenever i can. Fiberglass is kind of a last resort. If you have any specific questions i'd be happy to offer advice.

alright man thanks. I only repaired one of the holes, the one underneath the passenger side door is pretty big so I had to do the one in the engine bay for practice. I looked at the fiber glass this morning, it looks like it covered the hole, but now needs some bondo because it is kind of pushed in from the hole.

I know how to weld, I took like four classes in high school. I just don't feel like buying a welder that I'm not really going to use that much or else I would definitely go the sheet metal route.

build up the fiberglass in layers. make sure its far enough away from heat sources, fiberglass does not like to take a lot of heat afterwards.

yeah, looking at the hole I fixed, it might need on more layer of fiberglass in order to be covered. I'm getting ready to go and sand it down now, I think the wonderful rain from Hanna is subsiding.
