trying to reinstall a 5 speed onto a s14. I have read some places that the transmission should be rasied on its side, then rotated once on the output shaft. Other places say to have it perfectly level and go straight up. We have installed the clutch/PP and are just trying to get the transmission back on. A few hours ago we got it to slide halfway on the output shaft, but the transmission would not seat down against the engine even when we tried to use the bellhousing bolts to pull the transmission foreward. But yeah, we've been at this for about 6 hours today and made no progress.

Any suggestions?__________________

try a jack raising the transmission at the back at different angles. it's rough when you're under the car. might want to see if you can get a couple buddies over to help out with the man handling of the transmission.

Yeah, we had 4 people under it. Finally we put one jack in the middle of it to carry the weight and we could all just jiggle/wag the transmission all over the place. We got one guy to hit the back of it with a hammer and it slid right on. Sweet - 5 speed swap is now done (just not on my car yet)
