I have a crazy project I want to do but I am struck on a few things. This question is one of them.

Does the Rear wheel drive (2WD) have wheel bearings that are bolted in or pressed in?

Why are some wheel bearings pressed in VS bolted in?

Does the Transfer Case fluid on AWD G's ever over heat?

Has the electromagnetic clutch inside the TC ever went bad?

I'd be willing to bet the wheel bearings are bolted in. Most new bearings are, but you can easily verify it be looking in the FSM.

Bolt in bearings are typically sealed bearings. Supposedly they are safer because pressed in ones can become unseated and then you lose a wheel/catastrophic steering failure.
Not sure about the other questions, but I'll take a stab at it:
I'm sure you can over heat really any fluid in the G if you try hard enough. Most likely you'll be overheating another fluid at the same time, and the vehicle will eventually go into limp mode though.

Electromagnets are tough little buggers. That being said, I'm sure one has failed/worn out at some point. The electromagnets are probably still good, but whatever friction material on the clutch has probably worn off.

Im not sure about the rears as I haven't gotten to them as yet but the fronts are bolted on. I bought the kit which came with the hub and bearing from autopartwarehouse.com for about 120 bucks.
