hey guys, im cleaning my engine and i took everything out, im sandblasting all the parts and powder coating o lot of stuff.

Question is that i sandblasted all the bolts. Now what do i recoat them with to prevent rusting?

has any body ever done it?

And last but not least, how do i clean my block to look like this? (picture)Sandlblasted and paint it or just sandblasted and clear coat?

He said "have a machine shop give it a acid bath, (with all the internals and head off of it) and get them to deck or resurface it as well. Thats how u have a clean block"

Indeed, hot tanking or acid bath depending on metal type is the way to go for super clean. Most engine shops are able to cover all of these services. And of course, you will save money if you disassemble everything, and bring it in as such.

As far as your bolt question:Look into POR-15.I'm not saying use it.Look into it.

instead of sandblasting the bolts and recoating them, i would have just opted to replace them with allen bolts (or whatever the proper term is). if you're going through all the trouble of making your engine look pretty, might as well add those little finishing touches. it'll make the end result that much more better.

i looped duct tape back on itself to make it double sided sticky and it now doubles as a head gasket as well as head bolts
