I have a 05 Maxima SE with 18' wheels now... I was wondering if anyone knew the bolt patterns for this car?

There isnt a lot of room between the tire and wheel well with 18" so I was looking to downgrade to 17"

Im being told width is 7J

Hub is 17 x 7

SL came with 17'' wheels from factory. Unhelpful critical 1st post is not good for bonus points.

18" tires suck on this car in the snow.. very little clearance between the tire and wheel well when snow builds up

Besides, 18" are low profile and cost big $$ when you hit a pot hole and blow the tire

Getting a smaller rim won't fix anything. When you get a smaller rim you get a larger sidewall to keep the overall tire size, that's how it works with tires. If you change the overall size of the tire you'll end up having an inaccurate speedometer and encounter other related issues. Getting a smaller rim with properly sized tire will yield you the same clearance.

This is a suspension issue not a tire size issue, you should jack the car up if you'd like more clearance.

Thank you but I see all kind of Maxima's in my year range(6th gen) with 17" tires and they have plenty of room and then there are Maxima's with 18" like mine and the clearance is minimal.

I also might be dumb but i dont understand how a 17" tire and 18" tire will have same clearance ?

Clearance depends on more than just wheel diameter.

You can reduce WHEEL size without reducing overall tire/wheel combo size (rolling diameter). A 245-45-18 (stock size) tire/wheel combo has the same rolling diameter as a 245-50-17 tire/wheel combo. You mentioned disliking low-profile tire costs, so I assume you're planning to go with a taller tire. In that case, you probably won't see much change in clearance unless you go with a narrower tire and wheel than stock.Offset and wheel width also play a big role in clearance. Diameter alone means little fitment-wise without width and offset info, too.

What area of fitment are you looking to improve clearance in? I've never noticed any bothersome clearance issues with our '04 with 18s. As noted above, the 18'' tires were designed specifically for the car. You shouldn't be seeing any clearance issues unless your wheels are not stock.
