Recently I've been bogging down really bad in every gear. I'll get full boost really fast but my rpms will just sit there. I used to have a problem with my exhaust smoking for a little bit on start up which stopped around the time I started to bog all the time. Don't know if that matters but I thought I'd throw that in. I got new ngk BKR6EIX spark plugs gapped at .29. I've read that someone had theirs gapped at that and was running fine. I don't bog all the time but it will happen once a day and then doesnt go away until I park it over night. What else should I try, o2 sensor? This is really frustrating...:(

Sounds like you may have a fuel problem. Probably flooding your engine

i had the same problem...it all led to my BOV. i was runnin rich and my spark plugs (sr20de plugs) were all fouled up. i put the recirc valve back on and got some denso iridiums and the problem never came back. also, the plug gap may make in a big difference.

i had the same thing happen too. it went bad then good. then it was really bad when i backfired really loud and almost stalled out. im not sure what they should be gapped at. if they are iridiums, they are pregapped.

I seem to be having a similar problem, when i start building boost the power will fall flat on its face and seem to bog down. Im not sure what it is, the car has been running perfect for two months. I highly doubt its a boost leak. Any ideas?

It started last nite while driving. I havent given it a thorough look over yet. When i get off work I'm going to drive it again and see if what happens. Hell it could just be a boost leak that i cant see.

I went back and started the car up after it sat overnight. There was no boost problem. That leads me to think that i must have gotten it really hot (because i was romping on it that same night) and some of the silicon boots and connectors on the 'cooler pipes expanded and formed a small leak somewhere. Then as they cooled, the leak sealed itself.... go figure.

I'll just tighten then down some more for extra measure.

I am running the BKR7ES11 (recommended in the SR sticky) on my S14 blacktop. What setting should I have these plugs gapped at? I'm backfiring and coming close to stalling from time to time.

I didn't always have this problem. I had the battery disconnected for about a month while I stored the car (waiting for parts to arrive). After connecting everything back up the car runs strong, but backfires (I don't think it did this before). I thought it might be the plugs. I'm also running an atmospheric BOV, but I had that before.

Is it possible that the timing could have reset? I'm getting good gas mileage (22+mpg in the city& that's doing triple digits whenever possible!) Any recommendations would be great!

I have the same problem, runs really rich, backfires every so often. When I get on the throttle, it will be at full boost at around 3 but the car bogs and the RPM won't want to go up. My BOV is used, and so maybe it's not working well? When I had it tested, there wasn't a boost or vac leak though. Maybe mine is electrical.

I don't suppose the fuel filter could be part of the problem could it? I figure its getting too much gas, rather than not enough.

1st and 2nd gear usually pull fine though. I know my SR was an automatic, what would happen if the ECU was an automatic also?
