i think he has an auto since he said ''it'' down shifted...could just be lack of power, you have any thing done to it?, or it could be the auto transmission screwing you out of a burnout next time try putting it in lower gear that way you can retain the high rpm's just watch it.

i do have a few boltons. hotshot header 2.25" exhast, cold air intake, and s13 cams. i,ll try putting it in a lower gear i was just worried about over reving it. the only thing i've ever done with my car was race 1.4 mile never tried drift but i guess my cars not set up for that (yet)

The auto really sucks the power off...

...but put it in 1st, and leave it there. There is a factory rev limiter for a reason...you can bounce off it all day and cause no harm. So no worries about over rev-ing...

FYI - If the auto senses a lot of wheelspin and such, it may go into a safe mode and then not start in 1st, and not shift out of 3rd...so the car will drive very weird. It will let you know there is a problem by letting the OD light blink constantly. No worries, just turn it off, let it sit a minute, then restart...should be fine.

This may or may not happen, but it used to when I had an auto and did lots of donuts and stuff...

i have an 90 240sx and my transmission some times go to safe mode. but i off my motor and start again and all be fine ....

i do this to spin my tires....when i press my gas pedal, fastly i put the shift into 1st gear and the gear had a lag near to 1-2 secs and the car will be rev and the tires spin =) ... sorry for my english!!! i try to speak =)

... or press the gas pedal to 2000 rmps.... next.... fully press and at same time go to 1st gear... and dont let off the gas!

heres a tip for auto try hoseing the floor and then slap in first and then turn lol. it worked for my car i own a 89 240 auto coupe...and if u keep it up like that u might bust the transmission. neutrul drop down is bad for auto's but once and a while its ok .=)
