hey guys,

I was trying to do the tach fix with the 10k resistor about 40 mins ago, seemed to work fine, but then I revved it up to about 4.5k & heard something funny, so I let off the gas and it stalled at 1k. I thought that was weird, so I tried to start it back up, and it did but I had to give it gas to keep it going. Now the alternator belt squeals like a pig in a slaughterhouse and the turbo spools up but sounds funny as soon as I let off and dies below 1k rpm. No puffs of smoke coming from the exhaust, anyone know what happened? I barely got this ****ing car running 2 weeks ago after 6 months in the works and now this **** happens _*#%_*_$^ helppp

thank you,

Richard

did you get the right wire? there is no way the resistor would screw with anything if you put it in the right place. it would, however, screw all kinds of things up if you put it in the wrong place. all the sensors work on voltages, and variations of those, so putting a resistor in the wrong spot would wreak havoc. provide a little more info on what you did, and we'll try to help.

thanks, but I found the problem, didn't have anything to do with wiring. I had a friend come over because I was by myself when I reported all these problems. Turned out to be a half-assed vacuum hose that was actually two hoses, but one wedged into the other by the shop that did my install. Fixedd, but the tach is still reading all twacked out and I just set it to redline when the motor sounds like its on the verge of going too hard. Lack of accurate rpm readings to go off of really limits what I can do. thanks though I appreciate you trying to help

thanks

Richard
