i've got no power left in my 00 Maxima SE.

it' bogs at 3000 RPMs, and i cant figure it out. I got a check engine light that came on and told me that i have an "out of possition crankshaft"....so i got a Dealer to scan my sensors b/c i thought that maybe it was a bad sensor. I had 2 bad sensors, the bank one O2 sensor, and the camshaft sensor. I replaced the cam sensor and the crank sensor, i still have to replace the O2 sensor. After replacing those 2 it still bogs. could the O2 sensor fix a bog that bad?????

are there ANY other reasons that i should consider?? I was thinking of replacing the timing chains, but i figured i'd start with all the bad sensors.

THANX IN ADVANCE EVERYONE!! i've been racking my brain over this.

Is the Check Engine Light still on? Any codes still showing?

It's not likely that you'll need to replace the timing chains. They don't stretch like belts and are really designed to be maintenance-free.

It's definitely not the timing chains-- unless something truly bizarre happened. Even a stretched timing chain shouldn't cause a bog at 3k rpm, it should cause the whole engine to run badly at all RPM.

do you still have any bad codes? The flywheel isn't damaged?

This could actually be a bad knock sensor. (yes, I know...)

so i replaced the bank 1 O2 sensor, and it still bogs. If i press on the gas pedal a little bit(1") it revs up to 5500rpm....if i press any further, it boggs back down to 3000rpm. I think that my throttle body needs cleaning, and i need new plugs b/c it feels like there are a few misfires while idoling(the plugs have about 30K miles on them).

i read up on the Knock Sensor, and it may be that b/c of the feeling that the motor is creating, i'll look into that too fellas!!

thanks again!

Make sure you use NGK plugs when you replace them. Other brands could make your engine run even worse.

Make sure you've got the Seafoam bottle that comes with the straw attachment (usually it's just a 4" red straw taped to the side of the bottle). take off the air filter (make sure the air around you isnt full of dust and other crap that can be sucked into the engine), and with the car running, spray the seafoam into the throttle while revving the engine a little with the throttle cable (or have someone push the gas pedal). The higher the engine revs, the more seafoam it will pull in, and the more, the better. I'd use most of the can but don't continuously spray the can into the intake because ya might flood the throttle and the car could die. (Use more Seafoam if you've got a lot of miles on the car.)

Seafoam is your friend.

sweeet...i will do exactly that!! i'm off to get seafoam right now!! My 94f150 responded well to the seafoam each time i used it. the Maxima didn't respond too much b/c i was treating the engine, and not the throttle body...i learned something today...therefore it's been a good day!!!

well...i started using the Sea Foam Spray(Deep Creep), and it did an OK job...i wasn't getting the results that i wanted. So i decided to take the Throttle Body out, and take it apart and cleaned it. I had sooooo much build up in the throttle body it was baaaaad. i put everything back together and started the motor...it ran a little better...i got more RPMs out of it, but it boggs at 5K now. I also replaced the front 3 spark plugs(because the rear three are HARD to get to, and will have to wait for another day).

the check engine light came on again, and i'll have to take it down to autozone to scan it for free again.

i'm running out of ideas...i'll let ya know what happens with the scan later tomorrow!!

Have you tried resetting the ECU. Check the coil packs on each spark plug too. I dont think this is the issue as you would get rough idle with this.

i ended up taking her into the dealer b/c i could not get her to run right. I did everything that i felt comfortable doing, without damaging her any worse.

before i took her in i replaced:Bank 1 Oxygen sensor.Crankshaft sensor.Camshaft sensor.Coil Pack on cylinder #6....i also took the throttle body out(btw it was naaaasty) and cleaned it thoroughly(even used Qtips to get into all the cracks. I did have a P0505 code(idle control malfunction) from the OBD II, and decided to take the Idle control sensor out and clean it with Qtips and the proper cleanser. That did not work either.

The dealer did a scan of the computer and got more codes after i turned her in.....to make a long story short. After almost $2K worth of repairs she runs perfect...she had lost her mind(PCM), and the doctor put her back together. All i have left to do is replace the idle control unit, clear the code, and she's good as new!!

thanks to everyone again, you've been a great help.

btw....pics of the rims are comming shortly, you're gonna LOVE 'em!!
