Hi. Auto Body by Duie wants $3000-$3200 to paint my S13/Silvia in a new color changeover to Silverstone (S2k dark silver). There are a few dings and a major dent in the driver's side rear quarter near the trunk. Also the hood and headlights don't match up.

Is this a good price, or should I keep shopping around? I know you get what you pay for, but I'd like to keep my budget closer to $2000. Anyways, here are some pictures to help my description. If they don't show, click here, although you'll have to be an imagestation member see the full album.

It's difficult to get a good paint job on the cheap.

Iv'e had quotes for 7500 before for a car repaint.

If you pay $3,000 you'll get a better paint job than paying $2,000. You DO get what you pay for, it's not just a clever saying.

If i were you, i'd probably go for the $2,000 paint job and spend the extra $1,000 on some performance upgrages. But that's just me.

3000-3200 is a pretty good price actually for a repaint, and to get all the dents pulled. If you find a place that will do it cheaper, just make sure the work is quality, and you won't have to go back, or get anything repainted, cause then it would have been worth it to with the higher price in the first place.

Basically just make sure that whatever place you choose, you know that they do good, quality work. Can you do any of the prep work yourself? I had a friend that stripped the paint, and prepped it himself, and the paint job was like $750, and it was a REALLY good paint job. Prep work is what costs the most.
