Hey guys, first off I want to thank you all for having such an awesome forum. You guys/gals are the primary reason I'm going to buy a vert. I have the cash in hand and am picking up my super clean red '94 vert w/ 88k mi. on Jan. 1st.

I intend to do an engine swap once the weather warms up, but was wondering if I would look like a douche if I got a body kit first without having done any performance upgrades.

I guess I want to have a nice looking car, but don't want to be embarrassed when I refuse to race someone off the light.

I intend to be a regular contributer to the forums and will post pics/register my vert once I'm in possession. Thanks again everyone for being awesome.

If the body kit doesn't look bad, then it won't matter if you have power. But a "ricey" or too agressive kit with no power would be no good.

I agree with biggie not to make it too "ricey" but at the end of the day it's your vert and you have/get to live with it. I'm a fan of understated body kits or light modification.

As far as beating people off the line you don't want to lose your license anyway. We all want more power but someone's always gonna have a faster car. Do your mods as you can afford them and as they make you happy. Me, I want about 300+ hp, upgraded brakes, suspension, etc. but it'll have to wait.

Bottom line - Congrats!!! you'll love your vert for years to come. Can't wait to see pics and watch your progress.

Thanks for the input, I'm not a fan of the aggressive mods anyway. I like the Silvia style front ends, so would lean toward a kit like that.

I learned about speeding in my early twenties in Cali when I almost lost my license due to numerous speeding tickets. I will probably*(1) be satisfied with 250 horses or so. I'm done messing around with tickets, I was thinking more toward recreational track use. I'm going to take it slow and do everything myself to learn as much as possible.

*(1)current goals may not reflect future desires

I'm a big fan of aggressive kits when done right with suspension/wheels. I bought my vert with a stock RB20 in it and decided to do body/paint/suspension/brakes before I began going for more power. Now that I'm finishing up with my new turbo setup, the car already has everything I need to put the power to the ground. So no, I don't think there is anything wrong at all with modifying the car in the order you want to.

Look into OEM aero. It has the clean factory look with the durability of urethane, far more resilient than any fiberglass kit :yesnod

As for people wanting to race you, just ignore em ;)

I get it everyday just going to work and back. you get used to it.
