Ive read so much about conversions, but nothing on mating body parts from other cars to the q45. Of any year. Except for the BMW headlights. I myself own a 91Q. The good thing about our Q is that the body lines are pretty much straight forward. No unique curves like some cars out there. some of the cars that closely matches our body style are e34 and e32 (5/7 series bmw), and a favorite of mine the g2 acura legend. Now of course bumpers aren't exact but they are not that far off. A lot of folks ask why? well there is so little for our cars unless you want or can pay 5000 or more for a set of bumpers. The acura in particular has so many bumper styles its ridiculous. Even the stock acura bumper would be a stylish upgrade over the stock unit. My main gripe with our bumper is it looks incomplete, too high. After wheels and a lower stance, the front still doesn't look right because of the amount of air in between the bump and ground. Don't get me wrong! I love my car like I love myself, but improvement can and should be made. I also like the Ac's headlights. I started thinking about this after smashing my hood. I couldn't and still cant find another hood. But I see so many acuras both coupes and sedans in the junk yard and the shape of there hoods are similar in design. Recently searching for pics of acura hoods, bumpers and fenders to compare side by side, I came across some pics of conversions people did with the legends like a e39 5series front, skyline front and back and some others. any thoughts?

similar to forcing the wrong puzzle piece into the puzzle, it will not fit perfectly and look like s***.......plenty of correct body parts available for those willing to pay or look .

I learned my lesson with the J30 headlights I bought for my 1991 Q45.

Anything is possible with a good body shop and some imagination.

You know, I try to take a persons insight and opinions with a grain of salt. No one is talking about screwing any bumper with s*** hanging out like trash! Yes it's established that bumpers from the said cars will not fit exact. I believe I impied a method grafting in my title aswell. Some times I forget that there are folks who bought this car simply to drive and only to drive. There are two types of enthusiast in this car world. Those who buy and those who create. This is a forum that includes legendary s13/s14's. These guys mix and match all day. If it don't bolt on create the part that will allow it to bolt on. There's a reason the ls400 has surpassed us in aftermarket performance. Becuase of people who feel if it don't fit buy another car. Whatever! Though elegant, I'm not paying 5000 for body enhancement when I only paid 1500 for the car. And yes there some cheaper bumpers out there. And look every bit as cheap in design.

You make a exact replica of the IMPUL body kit to every detail and I will be your best friend. You could also be sued for patent infringing but what ever.

The S13 and S14 is a great car but the 240SX General Chat doesn't make it look so good.

But I am with you and I try to find ways to improve the G50 Q45 but I am not much of a exterior (Body) guy because its too hard and costly. But IMPUL is one (If not) the best body kits made for the G50 (1990-1996) Q45 and I think you will be hard pressed to improve upon it.

Dude, there was nothing wrong with your idea. You just selected a bad part to work with. I've seen the j30 headlights and they were a bit too roundish. I mean I see them everyday in the junkyard. Truthfully speaking there are other lights that are closer in dimensions to ours, but anything you go with will require tweaking to the body panels to fit cleanly. I learned back when I had a 89 Chrysler conquest that new ideas beget wrath, but after it's said and done with a clean almost stock look, people started begging you to hook there's up or make them one. Anyone with knowledge of the starquest cars know what I mean. Clean car with aggresive lines, but what I hated about the car was the way the headlights f*** up the front look of it. So out with the pop-up heads and in with syaionary heads with projectors and hids. Btween you and me, look up some pics of the acura's front end and tell me how much difference there really is.

Acura, Honda, Nissan, Infiniti, Toyota and Lexus are all designed in the same country so of course there will be similar.

I will admit I once thought of using a Acura Legend grill as a cheaper IMPUL grill but quickly reconsidered.

hey, I'm not trying to make anything from scratch. I'm not a manufacturer, rich, or godly talented. Far from it. I do however know how to use fiberglass. I know how to trim and add to a part if needed. Impul does make a nice kit. You also pay for that design, fit and finish. Let me adk you this, if I presented a mild bumper that fit and looked good without changing the look of the car, would you buy? I think anyone would. But the hard part is getting it to that step. I'm not even here to sell anyone anything. Just presenting a idea that everyone who has driven a z, starquest, 240,mk3 supra, 80's-90's jetta and so on seem to have forgotten since buying a "Q45"

Why not the whole hood with the blackout mesh grill?

Well if you can make a picture of what you want to make that would help a ton more.

But for me its either OEM stock or this:

I would give everything on both of my shelves in my basement for the above body kit.

that photo best explains how i want my car to sit. this kit is what should have been built into the car. i mean really look at it. you compare the stance and look to most cars today and quite a few of yesterday, it doesn't really stand out. Cars come from the line with lower bumpers. I don't want anything extreme like vip and I don't want to rice it out. I just want everything to look as if it fits. as it stand, the car from the front looks like it missing a airdam or something.

REALLY look at it (not a high contrast, photoshopped, web image) and that impul isn't all that nice imo.

Image

i'm a fan of impul and i almost bought this kit more than once, but in the end the styling was too dated for me. the flared bumpers/sideskirts near the wheel well really kill this kit. you could modify it to get rid of them, but that results in the front bumper hanging lower than the skirts.

i've seen several q45s/presidents running modified impul kits in japan and none of them look outstanding.

i personally considered grafting e38 sideskirts and front bumper at on time because the lines are very similar. instead, i decided to leave the factory bumpers untouched and now i am converting to a president.
