Body Control Module

Hi all,

i have an 08 altima coupe and the "service engine soon" light recently went on. i took it to the dealership for a full diagnostic and the mechanic told me i need to have the body control module replaced.

what i'm wondering is: what exactly does the BCM do, and what exactly does the mechanic need to do in order to replace it? does it require the removal of several engine components, or is it a quick swap?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
