blutooth Blackberry or iPhone best?

I'm a bit disappointed with the bluetooth on my new 2010 Altima. Paired my Blackberry Bold 9700 with it, but when I press the button on the steering wheel, it says 'dial manually' (or something like that). No voice recognition? Even my old $15 blutooth ear-piece had more functionality than that. I have to take my blackberry out of the center-consol box and dial manually? I would not call that hands-free.

I'm thinking of changing to an iPhone as Nissan seems a bit more Apple-friendly. I understand the iphone will automatically(?) download its contact list to the car and the car voice-recognition will then work? What about incoming calls? Will the caller name display on the (non-nav) dash display?

Anybody using an iPhone can let me know the functionality? Don't want to lay out the cash and fidn I still don;t like it.

Thanks!!

I have a Blackberry Curve 8900 and it works well in my car.

I have the Bose Nav though, so it might be different. I can use the voicedial and do not need to dial manually. The only quirk about the voicedial, is that it is slow, but this is due to the car and not the phone. You have to wait for the lady to finish speaking before you can say a command. So the issue might be that you got the non-nav setup, instead of the nav. Double check and go through the settings and make sure that voice dialing is turned on also.

Also the bluetooth audio works real well and sounds good. When I paired my friend's iPhone 3G, the audio kept on cutting out and back in. I am not sure how well it works with the 3Gs though.

When I get an incoming call on my BB Curve it shows who is calling me with no additional setup, however I haven't tried voice dialing. I had voice dialing working for manually configured numbers on my old 07..

Is your blackberry unlocked when you are trying to make the call? Depending on the bluetooth setup your phone can't make outgoing calls via bluetooth unless it's unlocked first.

Do you have the Tech package (nav) or the prem package audio system?

Hi Keyan.

When you say the incoming call shows, I presume you mean on the car, not on the BB?

I have the prem package audio system. I'm posted in Saudi Arabia and the nav system is not available here - lack of maps I guess.

I've done a bit more research and I think all of this will work if I upload the BB contacts list to the car. Unfortunately it seems this has to be done manually, one name at a time! (Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody.)

This is a non-starter for me as my contacts list changes almost on a daily basis. I need it to be automated. From what I read, I think the iPhone can do this, but I'm not sure what other frunctionality that gives me.

Very frustrated. I've already got a separate Garmin satnav mounted on the dash and hoping to avoid a BB moutn also. I really wanted both of these functions from the car display.

(Well what I REALLY wanted was the 3.5 V6 Coupe - but seems then don't have them in Saudi either. Just the 2.5 saloon.)

Did you have to manually upload the contacts?
