Ok so I did a search on smoking problems but I cant find out what it is. Maybe you guys could help.

91 240. I just changed the PCV and oil/filter. The car runs strong and maint. is now up to date. But I get a little puff of bluish/grey smoke when I go from idle(like at a stoplight)to accelerate into first. No smoke in any other gear and it only happens if I idle for a couple minutes. I've talked to a nissan mech. and he says it could be a bad injector. I've already replaced (band aid fix)one injector and the problem went away for awhile but I'm starting to think it might be oil blow by.

I also get a bit of a hesitation @ higher RPM's. Wonder if it's related to the same prob.?

Has anyone had this and any info is greatly appreciated.

blue smoke is oil burning, gray/white smoke is coolant, i dont know how that could be an injector, but it sounds like u have a bad head gasket if oil and coolant are in the combustion chamber, do a compression and leak down test to know fo sho

Sounds like you have a valve guide seal leaking or a headgasket problem. At idle oil builds up in the cylinder and when you put a load on the engine i.e. first gear, you then blow it out the cylinders. You may see it in all gears when the leak gets really bad.

I looked at the procedure for replacing the head gasket and there is alot of parts to remove for doing it. I might as well buy all my cams, lifters valve springs, etc. and rebulid the whole engine at the same time. Just cant decide if I should build a turbo ka or swap for a sr20. I've also thought about doin a sick swap 4 a rb26 but cost on that is high cause in canda here we pay alot for parts.

Buy a scrap yard KA, build up while its out on the workbench which would make life REAL easy, build it for turbo if you want...

Then drop it in once ready :D

Thats the route I'd like to go. I get a small bit of blue if you jump in the car and try to go right away. once the car is warmed up shes fine. She has a bit of blowby in the crank....maybe a bad ring?

ka24 rings are actually made of compressed toenail clippings.
