Recently purchased 06' M45 and cannot connect Bluetooth with Treo 650, has anyone had these issues, any suggestions?

Didn't you just post this question in another thread? What carrier? What software level? Why not respond to that one?

i bet your carrier is verizon. other carriers have newer firmware that makes the treo650 work without problems.

with verizon, you can pair the phone, then receive calls with the car's system, originate calls from the phone, but not originate calls from the car.

the trick is to press the phone button on the dash, wait for the display to tell you that the phone is connected, then hit the command button on the steering wheel and say "dial office". you have to be quick. if you wait too long, the car will take your input and then tell you that the phone is not connected.

I can connect with my Treo 650, but the connection doesn't last. It only stays connected as long as you're making or receiving a call.

I have also read that Infiniti doesn't have the Treo on their authorized Bluetooth phone list. I bought my wife a Motoroala for her G35 and it works much better.

Given that I don't make or receive that many calls in my car and that I use my Treo more as a PDA than a phone, it's not a big deal to me.

Are you able to pair the phone with your car at all?

hi steve:

replies embedded.

SAME FOR ME.

YUP. I HAVE A MOTOROLA RAZR THAT WORKS BETTER.

Given that I don't make or receive that many calls in my car and that I use my Treo more as a PDA than a phone, it's not a big deal to me.

Are you able to pair the phone with your car at all?PAIRING ISN'T THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM IS THAT VERIZON NEEDS TO UPDATE THER FIRMWARE FOR THE TREO650. THAT'S WHY TREO650 USERS WITH OTHER CARRIERS DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.

YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE ANY CALLS IF YOU COULD NOT PAIR THE PHONE.

GOOD LUCK!

Bert, thanks for the reply. Verizon recently updated their firmware and I still haven't had much success. I just went back to my old Motorola phone and it works great.

I have a 650 and get the same results that BSHURE posted above. The only other thing I would add is I can originate a call from the headset and it will force the Blue Tooth to connect at that point.

With my Treo 650 on Verizon, I have found that the car activates the bluetooth connection for incoming calls. If I originate the call from my phone, the car takes over the call until I hang up. I haven't had the car a week yet, so haven't fully explored this yet.

I fixed my verizon treo650, by making a hybrid ROM.

stays connected, shows signal strength and originate calls from the car!!

Quote »I've had my M35x for all of one week and am enjoying it greatly except for the apparently well documented annoyance of my Verizon Treo 650 connecting and disconnecting. As others have described, bluetooth would connect when a call was made from the phone and on incoming calls, but would then disconnect after the call ended making it impossible to use phone voice commands, add numbers to the phone book, etc.

Well, I managed to get it to function properly, but I only recommend trying this procedure at your own risk. I "fixed" the problem by creating a custom ROM consisting of the current version 1.04-VZW firmware overlayed with the Bluetooth components of the current Sprint version 1.13a firmware.

I decided to try this after learning from this forum the Sprint version of the Treo seemed to function properly and reading about a great ROM Update tool on Treo Central: http://discussion.treocentral....11939

Using the tool and following the instructions referenced in the post, I was able to download and extract my Treo ROM to a Windows directory, as well as to download and extract the lastest Sprint firmware update. I then deleted all of the Verizon Bluetooth files (BT*, Bluetooth*) and replaced them with the Sprint Bluetooth files. I then uploaded the hybrid ROM using the ROM update tool, restarted my Treo, and everything worked perfectly! (Whew!)

This is a risky procedure since if something goes wrong you could end up turning your Treo into a brick. However, I will say that this tool seems to be very well done, and makes the process far easier than I would have expected.

It's certainly unfortunate that Verizon doesn't release updates in a timely fashion when there is clearly a fix to the problem (as evidenced by the comments about Sprint Treos on this forum)

So now I have spent the past few hours happily playing with my phone and going through the tedious process of adding numbers one at a time (my BMW 540 would just automatically load all of my Treo favorites on startup).[/quote]

Welcome to NICO! And thanks for this info. I hope it helps people here ... a bit risky, but might be worth it.

friends:

i dropped by the verizon store today and borrowed a treo 700p. i took it to my M45, and it worked perfectly. i was able to press the button the the steering wheel and make calls, without pressing the "phone" button on the dash and waiting!

it is a pricey solution, but i found a good home for my treo 650, and i'm happy.

ps. i was going to try the firmware hack, but all of my tech friends rolled their eyes when i explained it!

I have the same problem with my TREO650 and M35. I am EXTREMELY PISSED!

I buy a $50k car and am assured that a simple software upgrade to my phone will fix the problem. My salesperson didn't know the answer or simply lied to me. Both are unacceptable.

you have several options:

1. hit the "phone" button on the dash, wait for the phone to connect, then press the "talk" button on the steering wheel

2. try the firmware upgrade mentioned elsewhere on this forum

3. upgrade your phone to a treo 700p

i was pissed, but not extremely pissed when i had this problem. it would have been nice to know about the list of supported phones on the infiniti website. http://www.infiniti.com/bluetooth/

niko14; I cannot find that thread at the forum you noted. I'd like to perform the upgrade to my phone. Can you get me the information?

Thanks
