Hi all... I'm new to this forum, so go easy on me.

I'm in the market for a new cell phone. I've narrowed my choices down to a couple, one being the Samsung Rogue (SCH-U960, by Verizon).Has anyone tried pairing this phone with the Nissan Rogue's bluetooth?

I've searched for it on Nissan's compatibility site.... it's not listed on ANY of the pages (compatible, not recommended, or currently testing), but I was just curious if anyone here had tried to do it.

My current phone (LG VX8600...which is, in fact, on the compatible list) worked fine. It never occurred to me that it would even need to be compatible. I just jumped in the car and pressed that button on the wheel, and off I went. This phone is now 3+ years old, and has periodic issues...including that its bluetooth doesn't work anymore.

I never thought I'd give a rat's rear-end about having bluetooth in the car.... now I'm spoiled rotten by it. I just don't want to deal with a phone that doesn't work with it and having to return it.

Thanks!

It should be compatible. The phone has Bluetooth that is compatible with Bluetooth headsets. The reason it's not listed on the Nissan site is because there are far too many cell phones out there, and Nissan doesn't have the resources to test ALL of them. They'd have to set aside a group of people to test them, and that's all they'd do all day, every day. And not to mention cell phones are not cheap.

And you could always make sure with the store too that it'd be okay to return the phone if it didn't work with your car bluetooth. But I see no reason why it shouldn't. You'll just need to make sure to have the phone's manual handy with you as you pair them. I know on my newest phone, I thought I knew how to do it, but I couldn't get it working w/o the manual...and I even work in IT, haha.

I've used a few different phones with the Rogue (LG Voyager, Blackberry 8310, Motorola Droid) and had no problems with any of them. However, only one of them seemed to be able to actually transfer numbers from the phone to the Rogue successfully. It's not really a big deal IMO unless you want the caller's name displayed on incoming calls for those that are in your Rogue's phonebook. You can always program the phonebook numbers manually.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll be purchasing the new phone soon from the Verizon store, and I'll probably sit there in the parking lot and pair the phone so that if there are problems, I can just go back inside and return it.

But what could be cooler than having a Rogue phone to pair with my Rogue car??

Good point. Maybe I'll go with the Blackberry.

Totally forgot about the whole transferring numbers thing since I just never bother with it. I either recognize the number and will choose to accept or ignore it, or I won't recognize it and will choose to answer or call back.
