Bluetooth Problems?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi everyone. I picked up my EX last week and absolutely love it. However, I am having a problem with the bluetooth feature. I have a Verizon phone. I can "marry" the phone to the car but when I turn off the car, the next time I start the car up the bluetooth system does not find my phone. I have to get out the phone, turn the bluetooth feature off and then on again, and then set both the car and the phone to search for each other. I never had this problem with my Acura TL. Whenever I started the Acura, the bluetooth system would immediately pick up the phone. I don't believe this is a phone issue because I have tried other phones (different models) with the bluetooth system and get the same disconnect results. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone propose a solution?

You have to check the box on your phone so that it accepts connection requests from your car automatically.

I have been told that before by Infiniti on their website. It doesn't work. I finally talked to someone today at the "Bluetooth Helpdesk" at Infiniti, described my problem and they concluded it was a system problem. They said I needed to bring the car into my dealer and have a diagnostic check done. We'll see what happens but I am not optimistic.

I have a Treo Centro and my wife has a Samsung; both work seamlessly with the EX and Bluetooth recognizes each phone by name about 4 seconds after turning on the ignition. Never have to pair either phone after the inital pairing.

My iPhone pairs perfectly (and automatically) with my EX35 each and every time. The only negative is that I can't transfer my iPhone's phone book to the EX35 as the Infiniti's software requires a phone that can "push" the names and numbers over Bluetooth. Very few modern phones offer that feature.

But, no biggie.... the EX35 only allows 40 entries in its phone book and I have WAY more than that. So, I just manually entered my most frequently called 40 into the EX35's database. Now that that's done, everything works like a charm!

I am almost sure this is your phone's software. Suggest before you waste time at the dealer (whose diagnostic will find nothing on this topic anyway) find another phone with bluetooth and try it out a few times. I'd bet it works peachy. If that is the case, and your phone has the capacity to have its preferences and such reset to factory settings, do that and try again. If your phone has the capacity to download firmware from the web (google it at the manufacturers website) download the newest firmware or go to Verizon and have them do it for you. They'll probably just give you a new phone to get you out of the store.

For me, this strategy also has the advantage of reduced risk. Going to a car dealership could accidentally lead me to another car. Going to a phone store, just another phone gadget. The latter is cheaper.

What he said. Even though Bluetooth is supposedly an open standard, certain car companies only validate certain phones and limit the functionality of others. I'm sure there's some money involved.

Blackberry Pearl works great but cannot import contacts.

The dealership took 3 days trying to figure what was wrong. Even the techs and the salespeople hooked their phones up to my bluetooth system and had the same problem. The problem is not the phone, it is the outlets where you would plug in the car charger. If the phone is not plugged into a charger, the bluetooth runs fine and connects every time. But if you leave the phone connected to the charger, when you turn off the car and then turn it back on, there is some sort of electrical surge that disconnects the bluetooth and causes it not to reconnect without turning off bluetooth on the phone and then turning it back on. The solution? Charge your phone elsewhere. That's what I am doing and am having no problems since.

Thanks for all the input!

I charge my blackberry curve phone in my car and have no such problems. I did have a similar problem with an LG chocolate phone that was freacking out everytime it was paired to my car. going off and on. It was the bluetooth chip that was deffective. perhaps it is the same problem on your Car's motherboard?

I would not let this pass by without a fix as you don't know how far problems will go. An AC plugged phone should pair with your bluetooth ainabled EX every time. If it doesn't, you should turn to your cellphone mfg for advice or go on specialized cellphone websites like gsmarena.com if you have a GSM enabled phone.

Good luck

I had no problem with my Blackberry until yesterday. When I tried to check the settings, the right side of the navigation monitor was not working. I could not use any of the functions on the right side, phone, clock, etc. I'm going to the dealer in the morning.

Was the car moving over 5 mph at the time? If so, that is normal for certain features on the Nav screen.

all be careful, when you "re pair" phone to car blutooth the phonebook gets deleted and i had to enter it in manually again w voice tags and that takes a while to do.

It may not help you but when my Blackberry didn't connect, I took the phone battery out to close everything down and now it works fine.

I'm experiencing a similar (but different) issue with Bluetooth:

Verizon CarrierMotorola Phone: MotoKrzr

I have an intermittent issue with the Bluetooth where it will work for many days ... then one day they Bluetooth will connect then disconnect then connect then disconnect ... until I turn the phone off and then turn it back on. Sometimes that breaks the cycle and the phone will connect as it is supposed to.

I'm not doing anything different in any of these instances.

I scheduled a Saturday appointment at my dealer to have it looked at, but there's only one diagnostic guy (and he doesn't work Saturdays).

Anyone heard of or experienced this?

Treo 750 (Windows mobile 6) works flawlessly except for the known phonebook transfer issue.

Hi everyone,i got my ex in february and i've been having the same bluetooth problem ever since. i have a samsung i760 phone and the problem is that when i am already on a call with someone and i get an incoming call, the car immediately connects the calls together. needess to say its really awkward and hard to explain to whoever im talking to! i usually end up hanging up on both parties, and then both parties usually call me back and the whole happens all over again. if anyone has any tips or help i would really appreciate it! thanks!

that's pretty funny.

You might consider getting rid of the samsung and pick up a Treo 700W, it is the equivilent of a Treo 750 which works perfectly.

I have a bluetooth question, If I pair my phone and my wife's phone in the EX and say one day we get in the car together w/ both phones, which will pair? Will the car ask which phone to pair? Does the key fob tell the car who the driver is and automaticly pair their phone?

The phone you have given number 1 priority to will connect with the car.

It would be nice though if the fob could override priority when you put it in.

Okay I am having problems with my Ex bluetooth. The dealer set it up initially to connect with my BB 8830 and it worked for a while on my way home. I wasnt concerned at the time. I went back in to the setup and deleted the phone and re paired the phone. Well ... The Bluetooth keeps losing the phone. It looks as if if it is setup but doesnt connect unless I resetup the phone. I have another phone a Samsung and it does the same thing .. Is this a defect?

Has anyone with an iphone 3g noticed that when you accept an incoming call it connects then the nav screen will flash then the phone screen will take over it has only started doing this since the new iphone update as well as the nav screen will be their when you disconnect the call, despite the fact when you picked up the initial phone call you were in status view??

anyone else have this scenario?
