So my iPhone connects nicely to the phone, but the phonebook comes up with a bunch of letters and numbers and not names. However, when it's plugged in, the names show up just fine.
I don't always want to plug the phone in when I get in the car. But if I need to make a call or get a call, I can't because the address book doesn't display properly.
Any ideas why or how to fix?

Not sure the model year of your vehicle but check here (http://www.infinitiusa.com/bluetooth/index.html) first to see if it should be compatible. Best case you may need an update from the dealer or worst case you may need to call their customer support if it should work (http://www.infinitiusa.com/bluetooth/customer.html).
