Bluetooth Music Streaming via iPod Connection

I've been looking for a Bluetooth solution for music streaming now that my factory iPod connection in my 2010 Murano LE is essentially obsolete. There are a lot of adapters on the market, but compatibility is an obstacle. The ideal solution would work just like an attached iPod, providing music selection and control from the vehicle steering wheel and displaying song information on the vehicle console.

Does anyone have any sources or experience in this area?

My intent is to maintain my factory system with the navigation and to avoid altering the wiring to add this feature. There are some enticing options that require rewiring/adding harness etc, that will allow even more capability than I was looking for, but I want to keep it simple (and cheap). I got a Bluetooth adapter for my other vehicle's after market iPod interface for $11 and it works like a dream). Unfortunately, that same adapter is not recognized by the system in my Murano--the "iPod not connected" message appears even though the adapter gets power and pairs with my iPhone.
