Did I lose the bluetooth module?

2013 M37X paired and working fine for years. Wife shut off the car, and when she restarted it, Bluetooth music and phone were both not working.
We looked in Settings and both "Bluetooth" and "Phone" are greyed out. We can't even get in to check the settings/re-pair/anything.

Anyone encounter this before?

With regards to accessing the menu, are you trying to do that with the car stopped and transmission gear selector in Park?

Yes, that’s correct. It does seem like it could be locked out due to thinking the car is moving. I had considered that, I just don’t know how to check it.

I suspect that same thing. The car appears to act like you are accessing settings not available unless in P with the park brake ON.

There are other things that are locked out when the car is in motion, like entering addresses as destinations through Nav touchscreen. Something you might check to rule out the "in motion" sensor being off.

Good call. I gave it a try and the nav worked fine while parked. I found some other resources that showed me how to get into the self diagnostic menu and it says the control unit is bad.

My research says that's an 1800 dollar part new or 1K used. Ouch. Not covered under CPO warranty.

Bummer. Do you mind sharing what error you saw during diagnostics? Might help future owners with similar problems.

UPDATE:

This is the part that had to be replaced: https://www.infinitipartsonline.com/oem ... a1c?c=az0x

Ridiculous. And yes, this was not covered under warranty. The Infiniti Customer Care line gave me 2K off the invoice as a loyal customer, but I still feel that at 65K miles, this should have been covered, warranty or not.

Again, absolutely ridiculous.

I did look at aftermarket bluetooth solutions and was unimpressed.

Wow, that's a really expensive repair. I know you're upset that a part failed on your car, but Infiniti only covered 2013 vehicles for 4 yr/60,000 mi. So even if the miles are low, the warranty still expired two years ago. None of the car companies warranty parts for all eternity, so I hope that's not what you were suggesting.

The issue I have is that I bought the car as a CPO with a warranty. After having minor problems, I actually read the warranty and noted that it doesn't cover ANY electronics. I'm pretty sure these cars are 50% electronics, so... kind of crappy.

Thanks for the clarification. I agree with your assessment, and find it a bit disingenuous that they'd sell a vehicle at a higher premium because it has the CPO warranty, which should be better than a standard one, when clearly it's not.

So you still paid $2700+ ?!

Those head units can be had online used for under $100

No, the dealer cost was much higher. I ended up paying 4K ish AFTER the 2k off. These units are not 100 online. I could have found a refurb for around 1800 and installed it myself, but if something else was causing it to fail, the refurb wouldn’t be warrantied.

It hurt. A lot, and probably wasn’t the wisest decision. I probably will be looking at other makes because of this.

Seriously looking at Tesla Model S. If the interior were nicer on the S, it would be a no brainer for me. They’re amazing cars, but the interior definitely is not in the same class as Infiniti.

They are used on ebay from $49 all the way up. Several around $100-$199.

I would of replaced it with a used one. A lot of sellers will offer a 60 day return policy. All you had to do was make sure it matched up witht he same options. NAV, tech package etc. You find out the part number of your existing unit, then you cross reference. There are several part numbers that will fit and work.

The Infiniti CPO program is one of, if not the worst in the car game field. The extended ELITE coverage is beyond superior to the CPO.

I have had my 2017 Maxima for a little over a year and have run across this issue many times. The phones paired with the car are greyed and cannot be accessed whether moving, in park, or with the emergency brake engaged. This has happened several times over the last 15 months and then goes away. Turning the engine on/off has no effect.
When it decides to work, both phones have no trouble connecting, making calls, playing music, etc. so it is not a compatibility issue. I have been unable to determine a way to make it begin working again through deliberate intervention when it occurs.
Highly frustrated!

Mjkkk is correct. Nobody knows which items are likely to fail on their cars better than Infiniti. Naturally, they do not include any of these in the CPO warranty. They get to charge you a higher purchase price while limiting the chances you will ever collect on that warranty. They will cover more bits on your car but only if YOU pay for the extra coverage.
I'm not blasting Infiniti for this - all car makers do it. MY MaxCare warranty beats the Elite warranty hands down (everything BUT the CATs for 60 months or 125k miles) because they have less data to rely on when deciding what to cover ... and I paid almost $3K extra for that warranty - made only about $2000 back onn repairs.
Warranties, Insurances, and maintenance contracts are all like being at a casino. The house knows how to keep their risks to a minimum and they usually do quite well. The best y0u can hope for is that the cost of the Elite warranty will be offset by covered repairs. In this case you would have won, but it's more likely you don't get back the $$ you paid in covered repairs.
