Bluetooth Glitch

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Driving to work today and my bluetooth quit working. As soon as I dialed a number, the information screen jumped from the phone mode to the navigation screen. The actual phone appeared to be dialing but no sound via the car or the phone was possible....and the car's phone interface screen never returned (hang up, use handset, etc.). Tried to disconnect and reconnect the phone and car...same problem. There is a bluetooth connection registering on both the car and phone, so it seems like a problem with the onboard computer. Any ideas? Or will I have to spend the evening with my manual? Or call service?

What kind of phone do you have? Have you made calls before with the system? Have you ever had any issues with it?

I had a small quirk with my phone once before - the best bet before trying anything else is to delete the partnership from both the car and the phone, and just start over and do it again. This cleared up the problem for me and I've had no issues since.

Yep, same phone for almost a year now without problem. Then suddenly this. I will try your advice and delink both places and then try to re-establish a connection.

Well no luck, I delinked both the phone and the car as suggested here and then paired the phone again. Same problem, as soon as I dial a number, the phone interface, which initially appears, disappears. The nav screen comes on, even tho the phone is continuing to dial (but is muted) and all you can do is hang it up manually. I'll call the dealer tomorrow if I have a few minutes...in the meantime, I am the idiot driving down the road without the benefit of hands free. Feel free to honk and cuss at me (actually, I'm trying not to do that...cause seriously I can't drive and talk at the same time).

That's really odd - one would think it would clear the issue up...keep us updated on what happens!

Scheduled service for next Tuesday. Although the service department was trying to be subtle, I think they have just scheduled me for some remedial training on using my car. While I am not completely ruling out the possibility of "user error" (I don't want to eat crow later on this forum), I'm pretty confident that I did nothing on either the phone or the car to cause this problem.

I was able to solve a bluetooth problem by removing the battery from the phone and then starting over with the connection. Might be worth a try.

I empathize with you.. I often get that feeling when I come in with what I perceive a "problem" with my car, for the most part service assumes that you do not understand what you are talking about, or you don't understand your car. I just got the car less then a month ago, and the salesman set us up for a training class, a few weeks after we got it. However when I asked him why he didn't ask us for a date that we'd be available, he told us no one ever comes back for it.

Anyway -- good luck with your issue. Might I suggest to borrow a friends phone and pair the phone and see if the issue still occurs.. If it happens again, then you will have all the more ammo to go back to the service department. Hope that helps..

Glitch fixed thanks to GoVols!!!!!!!!! Pulled the battery from my phone, unpaired the phone and car via the car and then reinserted the battery and then paired the phone again. Back in business. I'll pass on GoVols suggestion to the Infiniti tech people later this morning.
