Bluetooth Draining Phone Battery

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hey everyone,

I just got my EX a few days ago (love it!), but I'm having an issue with my phone losing a lot of battery power (from 6/6 bars to 2/6 bars) after driving around for just a few minutes (about 30) and this is without even having used the phone / bluetooth. I have a Motorola RAZR and it automatically connects with my car's bluetooth upon start.

Anyone else have this issue or know what might be causing it?

Thanks,

Christina

Hello Mzcreation

I have an iphone and i use the phone and bluetooth all the time. i do not have any problems however i remember that an update that was issued for the iphone improved connectivity and battery usage, i would check and see if their is a firmware update for your phone this can be done sometimes at home or in the wireless store. i had a razr in the past and i had updated it several time to fix issues and glitches.

Hope this helps ... also make sure that the phone isnt roaming on you that will drain a battery insanely fast.

Welcome to NICO, mzcreation!

Punjab's suggestion is a good one.

I'm afraid I can't help with your problem ... I have a Motoroloa SLVR L7 and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Hopefully with our friendly, active and knowlegeable group, you'll soon get additional input.

Cheers,David

Welcome to Nico

I have one question. Have you checked the phone once it is conected? Is the screen going blank (battery save mode). If yes look for an update. If not that is the problem. Not familiar with the Rzor but there is a setting to adjust the time on the screen turning blank.

Hope this helps

How old is your phone?

It could be either the firmware not reading the battery power correctly, or you could have a low tolerance battery that has been drained off over time that can't handle the extra power drain as well as a newer one could.

Simply having your phone's Bluetooth turned will drain your phone's battery faster. Furthermore, having an active Bluetooth connection will drain the phone even faster. One you connect your phone via Bluetooth your phone is recalculating the remaining battery power. Its only and estimate and may not be very accurate.

I concur...

For long trips I hook my iPhone up to the iPod adapter. Maybe you should get a car charger.
