I see there have been a few entries over the years about folks having some problems with Bluetooth. I'm not sure my experience today will help any others but thought it worth posting.
My 2009 Hatchback came with Bluetooth functionality and at just under a year of owning it, I finally found a bluetooth equipped phone I liked at the right price with a really cheap prepaid plan (yes, I'm an infrequent user!). Set-up was pretty simple and for about a month now I've been enjoying the merits of having this functionality, especially since cell phone use while driving has been banned here (although you'd never know it but that's another story entirely)
One thing that I found pretty cumbersome was adding names and phone numbers to the car's system by having to recite the numbers, especially when they are all programmed into the phone, but Nokia's documentation on how to transfer numbers from the handset is virtually non-existant. Turns out the Nissan site steps you through how to do this on a model by model basis which I only discovered today.
So equipped with their instructions, I added another listing to the car's phone book using bluetooth transfer. It worked fine, or so I thought until I discovered afterwards that the car system wouldn't accept the 'call' command for the next call I tried to place. I just kept getting 'command not recognized' responses. In fiddling around further, I started noticing other commands that weren't recognized. So I could use the new entry just fine by saying 'call John Doe' but saying just 'call', where you can then say the numbers or previously entered names would come back as unrecognized.
So after a call to my dealer, only to discover they know absolutely nothing about the complexities of Bluetooth, I decided to delete the last (and only) number I had added using Bluetooth Transfer and immediately thereafter, the system recognized me every time with all the previous commands that had failed.
I realize a single number transfer and the first one I attempted may not be enough to form any conclusions on but I thought it worth posting my experiences here for any others that may be experiencing any similar issues. In a way it reminds me of PC related issues where you often have to look no further than to the last thing you did to determine what may be the cause of your latest problem.
And it's ironic that it's a bluetooth issue I'm writing about given the strong speculation that bluetooth will totally replace USB connectivity in the not so distant future.
I'd be interested in hearing from other Bluetooth users as to what issues or tips they may have and in the meantime be assured I'll be sure to post further experiences as they occur with attempts to transfer data to the Nissan system via Bluetooth. . . . . . . . .
