I'm going to take a guess and say that yes, you'll probably lose that stored information. I doubt that there's any backup for the bluetooth phone book - just like you'll lose radio presets as well.

I'd check the owners manual and see if it says anything about this. I'm curious to know the answer - I spent a long time setting up our contacts.

Yes Not only will you loose your blue tooth data you will also need to have your IKEY reprogrammed at the Dealer! and I am sure that will be $$

I guess I won't be disconnecting it when I get my fogs. Bluetooth won't bother me but can anyone confirm the I-key reprogramming. If that's true about the I-key then that really sucks.

There has to be someone here with the I-key that has done this and can answer.

that would be a big fat no on the iKey needed to be reprogrammed.

Think about it... if your battery died, you key wouldn't work to jump it. The iKey operates in the car the same as any chip key... the difference is a battery and transmitter in the fob which transmits the keycode to the car when it requests it.

When I bought my car last week they replaced my battery with a new one and I talked to the tech as he was reprogramming the the two IKEY's with his scan tool through the OBD port. And the Tech is the one who told me when the battery is disconnected you have to reprogram the IKEY??

It makes a little sense that you need to reprogram after disconnecting the battery because if you buy a new I-key, the manual states you have to bring all I-keys to the dealer for reprogramming, old and new.

I wish this weren't true but can anyone else confirm that has had to disconnect their battery

I'm not so sure about that. When the original Vince was sandwiched, the body shop had to take apart the front end (as well as the rear) to repair it, and I'm about 95% certain they removed the battery when they were up there. They did NOT ship the car off to Nissan to have it reprogrammed, and it worked fine after the work was done.

Also, you will not be completely disabled even if I'm wrong. The Immobilizer system is NOT reset by a battery disconnect (because if it was, EVERY Versa that has ever had an aftermarket stereo installed would then have to go to the Nissan dealer), and the immobilizer chip is part of the physical key that separates from the iKey transmitter. This key can be used to unlock, start, and drive the vehicle in case of the failure of the transmitter.

For whatever it's worth, when the dealer replaced my defective battery a week ago the radio presets were lost.

I only had one I-key with me when I took it in, but when I got it home both I-keys still worked so I'm guessing no reprogramming of the I-key had been done.

But, what do I know? I only drive 'em, not build 'em.
