Bluetooth and the Ipod touch

I recently upgraded my IPOD touch with a new batch of upgrades, one of which included Bluetooth connectivity.

Has anyone tried to use their upgraded IPOD with the M35/M45 Bluetooth feature, to play music thru the speakers. I'm not too familiar with Bluetooth devices; although my cell phone works fine with the setup, I haven't tried anything else as of yet.

I would test it myself but I work over here in this sand box and won't see my M, until early december. If this works, that'll be great, seeing as that it will free me up from having to use the A/V stereo cable for sound.

Thanks, it's greatly appreciated..

I did the software update on my iphone and streaming music via bluetooth didn't work. Some one asked a similar question earlier this month you might want to look through it.

I tried playing music through my phone while bluetooth was connected and while the phone thinks it is playing, nothing comes through the speakers. I would imagine it is the same for anything with bluetooth.

ok, thanks for the input.

thats kinda odd that it won't respond. My co-worker used his Bluetooth on the ipod to play on a small portable speaker he bought. My guess is that the in car system doesn't stream music, but only recognizes voice. Sheez, i'm lost, that's why I'm asking questions..

Thanks again

I suspect the bluetooth is set to only recognize voice commands and linking to phones / PDA's. I tried to connect it to my Garmin GPS which has bluetooth capability so that I could send the voice prompts through the vehicle audio system. It wouldn't recognize the Garmin either. Bluetooth is only a communications protocol, there still needs to be a software interface on each end to recognize the data stream and process it and I don't believe that the M's Bluetooth is that versatile.

Most likely the M uses an old bluetooth protocol as well. Maybe not in the 09s though. The sound quality through bluetooth makes it seem like it is only running at BT 1.0 speeds for the bitrate. I am kinda glad it doesnt stream music, cause streaming through such low bitrate would sound horrible
