I have a 2004 M45 with factory navigation. Is there anyway to add factory blue tooth to the existing unit? If not, does anyone have a recommendation of a good after market blue tooth unit?

My M also has factory XM Sat. Radio. I'd like to switch it to Sirius. Is there any way to change the XM receiver to Sirius and keep the existing antenna and connections???

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to NICO.

I do not know the answer to these questions, but there may be others here who do! So, I hope they chime in.

I'd recommend contacting http://www.everythinginfiniti.com and speak with Joe Tsensky - this is the web parts sales arm of Scottsdale Infiniti in Arizona. Joe will also be able to help you with these questions (and get you the OEM parts at a reasonable price too!)

Thanks guys - maybe somebody has already installed one and can give some good advice on the blue tooth. I started wondering if there was a way to incorporate the existing microphone installed for the voice command that I never use into a hands free blue tooth unit.

I found this unit online but not sure if it would work as good as it sounds.... http://www.tellphone.com/index...d=222

Most people have recommended the Parrot aftermarket blue tooth but I'm not sure I trust Circuit City to install that on my M.

Any comments are welcomed.

Thanks

03 and 04 M's I'm pretty sure there is no factory blue tooth. It wasn't an option.

The satellite receiver needs to be switched out with the Sirius unit. It's in the trunk. I think it's like $300, and you can use the same harness etc.

Are you sure you can use the same antenna for Sirius and XM. I was told they use two different types of Antenna. Maybe I was given bad info.

Anyone else have an opinion?

Look in the classifieds and on Ebay for your reciever, I have come across a few there myself.

If your car is prewired, it doesn't come w/ an antena, so yea that would come with the receiver you purchase.

I personally would only buy the unit from Joe at

http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/

That way you know you will be getting everything you need.

I might just wait until Sirius and XM merge and try to save the $400 for the new box.

I haven't heard any responses about a good aftermarket hands free bluetooth. From the reviews I have read it looks like the Parrot is the best route to go. If anybody has one installed please give me some imput.

I'm not certain that anyone can install the Parrot on the 03-04 M45. There might be a lot of splicing involved. I have the 03 M45 and have looked into the parrot. I even bought a 3300 (Gps) model but eventually installed it in my Sequoia because they make a wiring harness. I've checked all over and I can't seem to find a Parrot harness for the M. They DO, however, make it for amplified and non-amplified Nissans. When you pull the stereo out, you'll notice that it's a Nissan unit. I've not gone as far as try it. Parrot UK asked me to take a picture of the back & email it to them but I haven't done it yet.

Thanks for the input.... sounds like I might be screwed on adding bluetooth. Maybe I can find a professional car stereo installer that might be able to make it work the way it should. Not sure if I trust Circuit City taking the M apart and putting it back together. If you ever get confirmation from Parrot that it will work please let me know.

Thanks -

Vince -

Take a look at this and let me know if you think it is possible. You seem to know the technical side of the connection. Thanks for your help.

Hey guys, I just left a tweeter dealer today with the same question. They said they would install a Parott (they actually recommended it over a few other options) for $125 in my car. Unforunately, they will be hacking wires as there is no quick connect kit for it. (I have the premium system w/ sat (no nav)

Hope this bit of information helps you in your quest!

Tman,

I've seen this. In my research & questions with the various mfg's of the harness, they've not confirmed that this quick connect works. Even Parrot UK couldn't confirm it. Buy at your own risk.

I think this is your only choice which is splice & dice. $125 is actually not a bad price considering your cost for a quick connect harness can approach $100 or more. I'm really liking the new Parrot 6100. It has a very small footprint and the additional controller can go on your steering wheel. The 3300 I installed in my wife's 05 Sequoia if FAR superior to any bluetooth handsfree device I've used to date (including the uncomfortable ear pieces and the blueant device I'm currently using). I mounted the microphone just under the ignition and always have great clarity when speaking to her.
