So I had just replaced the fuel injector in cylinder 1 of my 1993 240sx and everything was running smooth....

I had been using 93 gas exclusivly, and just put 89 in because I was short on cash at the moment...

Then the issues start to happen... cylinder one died again, it's not fiering anymore... Shortly after that a see white/blue smoke coming out my exaust, and I have to give it a lot of gas to start up...

So now its burning oil, my first cylinder is not working, and it struggles to start.......

I get my car home let it sit for a day or so(its leaking oil now, thinking rear main seal), then go to start it to put it up on ramps to look for an issue..... now it wont even start.......(I hear a click, but nothing happens.. I tried unwireing my alarm to see if it was that, but that s*** is ghetto rigged in there by last owner, but it makes the same click when its not even plugged into the alarm)

TL:DR: I put 89 gas in my car, cylinder 1 stopped working, it started burning oil + leaking it, and now it wont start...

Any ideas whats up?

Did u install the injector properly? did u change o-rings? did u put some engine assembly lube on the o-rings before sticking it into fuel rail? if not - u are flooding the cylinder with fuel! that what I did last week with my rb

The O-Rings came with the injector so I'm hoping they are fuel resistant

And no I did not put engine assembly lube on them... would that really cause all these issues?

...........

first, O-rings ARE reusable, as long as they're in good condition, with no cuts or tears, dont use engine assembly lube, use vasoline, and no that wouldnt cause all your problems, depending on where your located, the lower grade fuel could cause your car to knock( not likely) but it shouldnt cause a hard start.how low did you let your fuel level get, there may have been some trash in your tank and letting the level get too low could cause it to get sucked into the fuel lines

blue smoke=oil, some how oil is getting into your cylinder or exhaust

if you just replaced the inector and it not operating again, look for a wiring problem, its probably NOT coincidience

I let the fuel level get pretty low, almost E, but thats not the first time I've done that, so

And yea I relize that lower grade fuel could cause a knock, but make a whole cylinder not work When the issues first came out I immediately checked wiring (injector is getting power)

So I'm kinda lost as what to do next, I'm trying to get it started, but I don't see how all this s*** is just breaking so close together

beat me to it. What always works for me is start at the problem area and work your way "backwards" through the systems. In your case, Id start with the Valve train.. just a hunch.

For example: start with electrical issue check to see if youre getting spark on that cylinder. If so, move on its not an electrical issue. Check the fuel system at the problem area. If alls well move ot internal issues.

I'm assuming the click you hear is from ruining the starter trying to start it, but if you replaced your own injector I would think you'd know better than to crank on the starter for like a minute straight trying to start it. So starter or starter solenoid for the click, try wacking the starter with a hammer, not too hard though, also make sure your battery isn't almost dead that will make it tick to. If you can get it to start turning over again, compression test it, lot's of blue smoke all of the sudden is usually not good and most likely not your injector.

Hopefully it is just a silly small thing though. Good luck.

So I've been reading that with an automatic car, I need to drop the transmission to replace the starter.........

Can anyone confirm that this is true before i go through the headaches of doing it?

Also confirmed that the started is bad, connected battery to it, only get a click no start...

NO, you do NOT need to drop the transmission, where did you get that information?

the bolts are a PITA to get to but if you have a lift, or jackstands, and a 3 foot extension, with universal joint adapter, it shouldnt be too hard
