Hi folks,

My white M56x is about to hit 88kmi and my Elite warranty expires at 88,489 so I'm looking at getting into another M56/x if I can find one with less miles.

I found one, but it's blue slate. Google seems to show me images of blue slate, harbour blue, etc. and I can't tell which is which. I haven't gone to look at the car yet.

So, can you guys who own blue slate cars please post some pictures (preferably in direct sunlight)?

Thanks!

Wheels are getting swapped if I pull the trigger. As are my LEDs, headlight bulbs and fog light bulbs. Oh and UpRev. I'm giving them back a fully stock car lol.

From what I can tell, there are definitely differences in the blues. Slate Blue is a bit deeper than Harbor Blue.
I found a website that shows photos of any inifniti in the colors you choose. Hope this helps.

Don't be copying my M bro lol. That's what I have my G was the same color. It's like a dark gray graphite it doesn't look blue at all.

I have the two tone black and stone interior. There's a pic of it here http://www.dragtimes.com/Infiniti-M56-T ... 28724.html

That's actually a good deal I just looked it up. It has all the options as mine it looks like and 14kmi less and is only like a grand more. I had to drive 4hours one way for mine too.

I'm not going to get it. I thought I made them a pretty convincing deal but they want like $31,750 out the door with an Elite warranty (I was shooting for like $28k OTD w/ warranty due to me being ahead on my loan thus a decent down payment) but they will only give me $14k for my car (wholesale) instead of KBB/NADA trade-in which is anywhere from $18,750-19,500. I realize my car is high mileage and harder to sell on the lot, but $5k right off the bat is a bit steep IMO. Not to mention my car is MINT inside AND I have 100% of it's maintenance history down to the wiper changes. Guess that doesn't matter. Outside has a couple nicks (both bumpers - 4 total nicks) which would cost the dealer probably $500 to fix.

Current payment is $450, if they could keep it to around $500 or $490, I'd do it. But a new loan with their numbers would have been like $560. Can't eat that, especially not since I have a wedding to pay for lol. Thought about going 66 or 72 months but the car is already 5 years old...even if I paid extra each month that's an easy way to go upside down on a car.

So, forget it. I'll just love my baby a little extra and hope she don't have any electrical issues post-warranty. I'm pretty confident in Nissan/Infiniti engines/transmissions, but not so much in the electronics (the more gizmos, the more stuff that could break).

Sorry I know I'm late to the game, but here's Blue Slate:

Depending on the lighting, sometimes it looks really grey. The rear bumper pic is probably the most representative of the true color. I love it.

when trading in, in my experience, dealers tend not to look at specifics like THE ACTUAL CONDITION OF THE CAR, or in your case your maintenance records, etc. They look up the specs on a spreadsheet make/model/miles and treat it like a commodity. To us car enthusiasts, it's ridiculous to think that way (I'm not buying 100 shares of coca-cola or microsoft) but that's how they think.

Yep, I'm back to haggling with them since they called me and seem to want to make a deal but I told them to basically up their trade-in or no deal. Also, I got quoted $2,100 for a 6yr/82kmi w/ $100 deductible Elite warranty and they were trying to sell me a 4/48 for $2,300 lol.

From them? 18k depending on sale price...so +/-. Basically what I'm looking for is a difference of around $11,500 between their car and mine...but they keep coming in at like $14,000 difference meaning they are off by 2-3k. They upped their whole sale price for my car to $15k and included the 82k warranty for $2,100 but I'm still not happy. There are like 5 M56x's on autotrader with the same miles or more as mine for $19-20,500. No way I'm going to let a dealer take me for $4k even if they bring it to an auction...that isn't my problem IMO.

If you meant private party, closer to $20,500 +/- as it has a couple of chips in the front and rear bumper and one tiny spec of surface rust on the passenger fender near hood line (likely from a rock on the road hitting it and then the lovely NY moisture).

KBB has my car at $21,099 for private party sale. $19,037 as trade-in.
NADA has my car at $22,005 for private party sale. $18,025-$19,700 for average/clean trade-in.

As of this posting it has 88,003 miles. Car is fully loaded (all three packages) with suede roof liner and java interior. As stated before, full maintenance history is available just some slight cosmetic imperfections on the exterior (it does have 88kmi on it after all up here in the brutal NY climate).

I'm with you, Ilya. Just hang in there. If you can't be totally pleased with the numbers and the condition of the new car, just say "No". Obviously, there are no mechanical / electrical issues with yours and it looks stunning. That doesn't always turn into extra value at the dealer for trade-in, but I am confident they will use those perks to get top dollar if they put it on their lot! The least they should do is to determine how much extra value is in your car, then split that difference with you so you both make a little more than average money on it.
I'm not sure how to search for it, but I made a post about my 2007 M35 (90+k miles) when that brainless, blatted tart struck me and totaled it. The appraiser from the insurance company added extra dollars because it was near showroom condition and the engine bay was spotless. You have every right to expect the same for all your hard work.

It's funny...when I was buying my black M35x in 2006 (23 years old), I was so eager to make the deal that I definitely could have gotten a better one. Then, when I bought my M56x in 2014, I caved a bit at the end too because I was so eager. Now, a few year later, I finally have the will to not be suckered lol.

I'm working on something and still may end up with this car if all the cards are played right, but if not, it is what it is. Not going to overpay or get stiffed on the value of my car just because of something that is 'shiny and new'.

Here here! And the longer you wait, assuming you make a move before you hit that magic 100k mile mark, your car will not suffer an additional huge drop from where it is now. There will be other shiny newer M56's and I''m sure there isn't a queue around the block competing against you on this M56 either. Say it loud and say it proud: I want what I want! LOL
