hi guys, my z probably has every issue in the z world... when driving and a truck suddenly stops, i stop and ALOT of smoke came from the hood. i look and the blue plug right next to the headlamp passenger side is burned. and all my gauges, radio, radar and dashboard is just going crazy. it shows the temp is way above high even though its cool, rpms do not work, all my lights have gone dim and my mph has sudden drops and raises even when driving at a steady rate. what is that blue plug and where does it lead to? i can have pictures if that helps. is it connected somehow to the alternator cause i just installed a 120 amp alter last week.

Yes, a picture of the plug would help.

Usually problems with the gauge cluster acting crazy is related to either the alternator or a bad ground. Is the alternator new or used?

Amp output won't inherently affect things because it only provides the amps needed by the car. Voltage regulation could be an issue, however. If your volt output drops too low, the current will increase to compensate, and this burns things up.

Check the ground on the back of your alternator. Sometimes there are 2 posts. I had a friend attach the ground to the wrong post, and he blew some fuses as well.
