I was the one who originally did the clearing of the orange circles....and yes i am having issues with the needles. I would love to know how this was done and without any issues with the needles.

That looks great. You must have some delicate hand skills to swap out those dash LEDs. A How-To thread is a must.

Nicely done.I agree with the others who think it might be a bit strange having a blue dash area, but orange center console/HVAC area. That being said, I'm sure the LEDs in the center console are much the same as the ones behind the speedo cluster and wouldn't be overly difficult to swap...When I get my next batch of LEDs in I'll have a look...

Please tell me you wont be stopping at 10. I'd love to get this done, but I definitely don't have the funds right now. If you're willing to do another in a few months, I'll jump on this in a heartbeat!

im trying to order spare parts so their no wait time ordering a set of window buttons start buttons and a gauge cluster so basically if someone is interested they can tell me what they want i will change the leds send them the cluster or whatever you would like me to change and then you can ship me back your old ones so i can start on a new set . i could probably knock out a set in a day or so. jeffliu35 about the discount maybe you can hook me up with a get out of jail pba card we can talk email me.
ESP wrote:...so I take it no problems with the needles (like domdada had)? What about doing it in a color other than blue?
basically i can do the leds in green, white, blue, red i just need a heads up to contact the supplier to order more surface mounted leds.

about the needles basically after messing around with it for quite some time i figured out how to properly tweak and adjust them the needles shouldn't be a problem

rjdmmfl1 what can i say you offer kick plates i offer to change all the leds in ur car. i have the soldering skills and equipment why not put it to go use. just another mod to contribute to the community

Ur right... I was hoping to get the write up, but I'm sure I could figure this out without the write up.. again, its all about supply and demand... find out what people want, and get it to them before someone else does! Hope it goes well... I don't think the beginner modder that's never used a solder gun will be trying this one... best leave it to the professionals... when/if I ever get some free time again, i will definately look into this....

I like the stock color too myself. The prices offered isn't bad at all considering if you don't have the skillz or tools. Great job on the mod though!

Sorry, I'm with the Doc on this one-- $400 is ridiculous to change orange LEDs to blue.

Honestly, I do like the blue but it would strain the hell out of my eyes with a lot of night driving.

Good luck in your endevours.

Kinda reminds me of what Ford did with the MyColor on the mustang.

It;s really cool, but i don't have the bones to put down for it. Good luck!

ill tell you this much this project requires alot of work especially if your changing the needles because not only do you have to get ride of the orange on the needles and repaint them to blue or whatever other color you want, you also have to resoldier the orange leds and as you see they are a pain because they are ridiculous close to the needle pin and just a pain to work with. if you think that is to much for this work thats fine, i dont have to do this, i also don't really care that much if i dont make money from this because that's not why i originally did this, i enjoy doing this stuff this is my hobby, i have a job as a electrical engineer in a tv station so i dont need to be doing this for the money and this takes alot of time here you go here is a picture of the lights whoever thinks they can do this go for it if your familiar with soldering surface mounted leds you shouldn't have any problem and maybe you want to offer to do this to the nice people on our forum for cheaper you should do that cuz it would not be worth my time to do someone else lights for any cheaper i lose a whole day doing this crap and now that i think about it i was just telling brian the other night this is to stressful i dont need this i could be chilling with my boys getting drunk instead of doing this. its really not worth my time so doc or whoever make it faster go buy all the leds extra gauge cluster start button window buttons and do it offer it to the people faster and cheaper

Where did you pick up all the spare parts? I've got an electrical engineer (aka boyfriend) who's dying to try to do this, but I refuse to let him touch the coupe. After all, it's my car and he doesn't have the most experience. At the same time, if I could pick up a spare, he could have fun with that and just maybe get something close to what you've done accomplished.

Thanks for offering the service. I might yet make use of it if by the time I'm ready to do the swap you're still be doing this. Assuming that nothing decent comes out of the project.

Can't wait for a Brooklyn meet to see it in person

To all they naysayers: Guys, seriously...if someone wants to pay for this, then they will. How many people here are actually familiar with soldering surface mounted components? I'm sure alot of folks don't even know what that means! So, that being said, if they really want to change their gauge cluster lighting they'll pay for it. Freemarket 'n all...It's obviously a fair bit of work that not everyone can do (at least not without a bit of guidance, anyway...).So...drop it.

Surmanm, kudos to you for having the balls to try this...it turned out great.A brief walkthough of what you did would be nice so that those of us who are more adventurous could try this at their own peril. Also, are you noticing any problems with the needles like domdada did?

Oh...and do you think purple/UV LEDs would be bright enough for this?
